Mayor @JaneCastor. COVID-19 has permanently increased the volume of pedestrians flocking to Bayshore as a healthy reprieve especially as Tampa gyms will continue with very limited access in the long run. Closing Bayshore lanes should not have to wait until Sept.

@TPD & Mayor @JaneCastor thank you for taking action against #Bayshore day/night speeders and racers. I hope that TPD’s visual presence does not fade with time; we will need you out there for months to come, until we have a permanent solution (ie closing the N bound lanes).

I hope speeders are no longer given “warnings” and this not just a bandaid until people “forget” about the recent tragedy.

Either we shut down Bayshore as a Park or make it physically highly unlikely for people to break the law by speeding and racing on the “Blvd”. That is the only way we will save lives.

Make Selmon free 7 days/wk during the day (when most people exercise on Bayshore); repurpose the 2 North Bayshore lanes for biking/walking.

TPD needs stop issuing “warnings” and send a message to EVERYONE. Short term: #Bayshore needs to be known as road you will be guaranteed a ticket if you speed, monitored almost 24/7, no exceptions!

I have 2 children that are too scared to go on #Bayshore. This this sad and unacceptable. Bayshore Blvd is designed as a 4+ mile linear park, not a deadly 4 lane thoroughfare.
