It really hurts when people hurt you, that’s why you feel hurt. Don’t minimize it, excuse it, bury it, ignore it, or dismiss it. It hurts because it hurt. Take it to Jesus (if the person won’t acknowledge it or doesn’t want to deal with it) and pour it out. He cares. He heals.

If we look at everything with a chip on our shoulder, we will find offense at every turn. Gospel conviction carries a different tone than personal opinion. Listen for it. Pray to have it. Don’t follow those who carry a constant tone of offense. All “counsel” will be colored.
