The Management, faculty, staff and students of The Madras Sanskrit College deeply mourn the passing of Mahamahopadhyaya Mullavasal Dr. R. Krishnamurthy Sastrigal, former Principal of our institution, who has attained the lotus feet of Paramatma.

A towering scholar of Mīmāṃsā, Vedānta, Vedabhāṣya etc., he made an extraordinary contribution to the preservation and propagation of Sanātana Dharma. Even after his retirement, he continued to teach and guide students, preparing many more scholars in Vedabhāṣya.

Beyond his scholarship, he was a true rasika of Kāvyas. His warm and jovial style of Upanyāsa made even profound śāstric and spiritual subjects accessible and enjoyable to the common listener. His satsangams brought joy to everyone who had the opportunity to listen to him.

With a childlike spirit of curiosity and learning, he remained a student till his very last breath. It is deeply moving that even on his final day in this world, he fulfilled the Pañcamahāyajñas as part of his daily dharmic duties.

We also fondly remember his wholehearted and committed participation in the recent launch event of our Sanskrit–AI initiative in the presence of the Hon’ble Finance Minister.

Even at his advanced age, his enthusiasm, affection and willingness to be part of this important occasion remained deeply inspiring to all of us.

Mahamahopadhyaya Dr. R. Krishnamurthi Shastrigal, one of the most respected Vedic scholars and Vedanta teachers, transcended his mortal coils.
Born in a family of Shastric learning, which continues to carry this baton, inspired and guided by him, Shastrigal has been a source of inspiration for countless people enthusiastic about studying the Shastras. He was born in 1944 to Brahmasri S. Rajagopala Ghanapatigal and Balambal in the village of Mullaivasal in Tanjore district.
Under his father’s guidance, he mastered the Krishna Yajur Veda at the young age of 14, a rare achievement, and joined the Madras Sanskrit College to continue his learning of the Shastras, where he studied Advaita Vedanta under Brahmasri S. R. Krishnamurthi Shastrigal and Brahmasri Polagam Rama Shastrigal. He was awarded a gold medal in the Vedanta Siromani examination, passed the Mimamsa Siromani, earned an M.A. in Literature from S.V. University, and received a doctorate from the University of Madras for research on the Istasiddhi-vivarana. ahambrahmaasmi. org
His career began in 1964 at the Vaideeswara Oriental School, Mettur, where he joined as a Sanskrit teacher. In 1973, he joined the Madras Sanskrit College as a lecturer in Vedanta, served for three years as Vice-Principal of the S.V. Vidya Kendra in Tirumala, and returned to his alma mater, the Madras Sanskrit College, as Professor of Advaita Vedanta. He became its Principal in 1999 and retired in 2003.
Shastrigal was honoured by the Acharyas of several Maths with titles including Vedabhasya-ratna, Sastra-ratnakara, Advaita-siddhi-ratnakara and Vedanta-visarada. The Rashtriya Sanskrit Vidyapeetha, Tirupati, conferred on him the title of Mahamahopadhyaya, and in 2013, the President of India presented him with the Certificate of Honour for his service to Sanskrit.
Shastrigal was also the recipient of the blessings of successive Jagadguru Shankaracharyas of Dakshinamnaya Sri Sharada Peetham, Sringeri, and participated on several occasions in the prestigious Sri Mahaganapati Vakyartha Vidwat Sadas held at Sringeri.
After his retirement, Shastrigal founded the Brahmavidya Bhavanam at his home, a traditional school for Veda, Vedabhasya and Vedanta, where he trained around thirty students in the Vedic commentarial tradition.
Mahamahopadhyaya Brahmasri Dr. Mani Dravida Shastriji, one of the greatest scholars of the Shastras of current times, has also studied under Shastrigal.
Shastrigal composed works in Tamil and Sanskrit, including Siddhanta-traya-sara, Vedanta-prashnottara-ratnamalika and Shastrartha-sumamanjari, and his lectures on the Brahma Sutras, Upanishads, the Bhagavad Gita and the works of Sri Adi Shankara Bhagavatpada are available online for learners everywhere.
Shastrigal was known above all for his clear and lively teaching. He made even dry and difficult topics accessible, and his lectures were full of wit and humour without any loss of rigour. His scholarship, humility and generosity as a teacher will be remembered by all who learned from him.
Several Vidwans of Aham Brahmaasmi Foundation have been tutored by him, and his scholarly excellence shines through them in the programmes conducted by this organisation, amongst several others.

கோவையில் நான் பத்தாம், பதினொன்றாம் வகுப்பு படித்துக் கொண்டிருந்த காலத்தில், பேரூரில் வசித்த என் பள்ளி சீனியரும் நெருங்கிய நண்பருமான கிருஷ்ணகுமார் வீட்டிற்கு அடிக்கடி செல்வது வழக்கம். வார இறுதி நாட்களில் அங்கே நண்பர்கள் பலரும் கூடுவோம். அரசியல் முதல் சினிமா வரை மணிக்கணக்கில் விவாதங்கள் நடக்கும்.

அப்படியொரு மாலை, ராஜேஷ் கண்ணா என்ற எங்கள் சீனியரும், கிருஷ்ணகுமாரும், நானும் நீண்ட நேரம் உரையாடிக் கொண்டிருந்தோம். அப்போது சினிமா மீது மிகுந்த ஆர்வம் கொண்டிருந்த ராஜேஷ் கண்ணா, கமல்ஹாசனின் நடிப்பைப் பற்றி பேசத் தொடங்கினார். பேச்சு “மகாநதி” திரைப்படத்தை நோக்கி நகர்ந்தது.

கமல்ஹாசனின் ரசிகனாக இருந்த எனக்கும் அந்த விவாதம் இயல்பாகவே ஆர்வத்தை ஏற்படுத்தியது. குறிப்பாக, திரைப்படத்தின் இறுதிக் காட்சிகளில் மகள் உறங்கிக்கொண்டிருக்கும்போது கமல்ஹாசன் வெளிப்படுத்தும் வலி, வேதனை, கண்ணீர் ஆகியவற்றைப் பற்றி ராஜேஷ் நீண்ட நேரம் பேசினார்.

ஆனால், அந்தப் படத்தை மீண்டும் பார்த்தபோது என்னை அதிகம் உலுக்கியது கமல்ஹாசனின் நடிப்பு மட்டும் அல்ல.
“வெங்கடாச்சலம்” போன்ற ஒரு மனிதன் இந்த சமூகத்தில் உண்மையிலேயே இருக்க முடியுமா? என்ற கேள்விதான்.

சிறுமிகளை பாலியல் ரீதியாக சுரண்டும் ஒரு பணக்கார மனிதன். பணத்தையும் செல்வாக்கையும் பயன்படுத்தி தனது அருவருப்பான இச்சைகளை நிறைவேற்றிக் கொள்ளும் ஒரு கயவன். குற்றம் வெளிச்சத்திற்கு வந்தாலும் பணத்தை முன்வைத்து பிரச்சினையை “முடித்துக்கொள்ளலாம்” என்று நினைக்கும் ஒரு மனநிலை.

அப்போது அது ஒரு திரைப்படக் கதாபாத்திரமாகத் தோன்றியது.

இன்று, பல ஆண்டுகளுக்குப் பிறகு, அந்தக் கதாபாத்திரத்தை நினைவுபடுத்தும் அளவுக்கு ஒரு கொடூரமான வழக்கு நம் கண்முன்னே நிற்கிறது.

ஜெம் கிரானைட்ஸ் நிறுவனத்தின் தலைவர் ஆர்.வீரமணி மீது சிறுமிகளுக்கு எதிரான பாலியல் குற்றச்சாட்டுகளின் அடிப்படையில் POCSO சட்டத்தின் கீழ் வழக்குப் பதிவு செய்யப்பட்டு கைது செய்யப்பட்டுள்ளார். விசாரணையில் மேலும் பல சிறுமிகள் தொடர்பாக தகவல்கள் வெளியாகியுள்ளதாக காவல்துறை தரப்பிலிருந்து செய்திகள் வெளியாகியுள்ளன.

இது ஒரு தனி மனிதனின் குற்றச்சாட்டாக மட்டும் பார்க்கப்படக்கூடாது.

சிறுமிகளின் பாதுகாப்பை பணத்திற்காகவும் அதிகாரத்திற்காகவும் பேரம் பேசும் எந்த அமைப்பும், எந்த மனிதரும், எந்த அதிகாரமும் இந்த நாட்டின் சட்டத்தின் முன் நிற்க வேண்டும்.

ஒரு குழந்தையின் வாழ்க்கையை சிதைத்ததாக குற்றச்சாட்டு எழுந்திருக்கும்போது, குற்றம் சாட்டப்பட்டவர் எவ்வளவு பணக்காரராக இருந்தாலும், எவ்வளவு வயதானவராக இருந்தாலும், எவ்வளவு செல்வாக்கு கொண்டவராக இருந்தாலும் சட்டத்தின் முன் அவருக்கு எந்த சிறப்பு வாசலும் இருக்கக்கூடாது.

பணம் குற்றத்திற்கு கவசமாக மாறக்கூடாது.
அதிகாரம் குற்றத்திற்கு கேடயமாக மாறக்கூடாது.
அரசியல் தொடர்புகள் குற்றவாளிக்கு தப்பிக்கும் பாதையாக மாறக்கூடாது.

இதில் மிக முக்கியமான கேள்வி இன்னும் ஒன்று உள்ளது.

இந்த விவகாரம் தொடர்பாக முன்னதாக மேற்கொள்ளப்பட்ட விசாரணையில் வழக்கை முடிக்க முயற்சி நடந்ததா? அப்படி நடந்திருந்தால், அதற்குப் பின்னால் யார் இருந்தார்கள்? எந்த அதிகாரிகள் முடிவெடுத்தார்கள்? என்ன காரணம் கூறப்பட்டது? யார் யாருக்கு அழுத்தம் கொடுத்தார்கள்? யாருடைய செல்வாக்கு பயன்படுத்தப்பட்டது?

இந்தக் கேள்விகளுக்கு ஒவ்வொன்றாக பதில் கிடைக்க வேண்டும்.

ஏனெனில், குற்றம் செய்தவன் மட்டும் குற்றவாளி அல்ல; குற்றம் தெரிந்தும் அதை மறைக்க உதவிய ஒவ்வொருவரும் சட்டத்தின் முன் விசாரிக்கப்பட வேண்டியவர்களே.

வீரமணி மீதான விசாரணை இப்போது தீவிரப்படுத்தப்பட்டிருப்பதையும், தொடர்புடையவர்களும் விசாரணை வளையத்திற்குள் கொண்டு வரப்படுவதையும் வரவேற்கிறேன். முதலமைச்சர் விஜய், வழக்கை விரைவுபடுத்தவும் தொடர்புடைய அனைவரிடமும் நடவடிக்கை எடுக்கவும் காவல்துறைக்கு உத்தரவிட்டுள்ளதாக செய்தி வெளியாகியுள்ளது.

ஆனால் இது இத்துடன் முடிந்துவிடக் கூடாது.

இந்த வழக்கில் பணம் எங்கு சென்றது?
 அதிகாரம் எங்கு பயன்படுத்தப்பட்டது? 
யார் மௌனம் காத்தார்கள்? 
யார் உதவினார்கள்?
 யார் விசாரணையை பலவீனப்படுத்த முயன்றார்கள்? எல்லாம் வெளிச்சத்திற்கு வர வேண்டும்.

அரசியல் சார்பின்றி, எந்தத் தலையீடும் இன்றி, சாட்சிகள் மற்றும் ஆதாரங்களின் அடிப்படையில் விசாரணை நடைபெற வேண்டும். தேவையான சூழலில், விசாரணையின் நம்பகத்தன்மையை உறுதி செய்யும் வகையில் மத்திய புலனாய்வு அமைப்பின் விசாரணையையும் அரசு பரிசீலிக்க வேண்டும்.

மேலும், இந்த வழக்கில் குற்றம் நிரூபிக்கப்படும் ஒவ்வொருவருக்கும் POCSO உள்ளிட்ட பொருந்தக்கூடிய சட்டங்களின் கீழ் அதிகபட்ச தண்டனை கிடைப்பதை உறுதி செய்ய வேண்டும்.

வயது, பணம், பதவி, அரசியல் தொடர்பு, சமூக அந்தஸ்து - எதுவும் ஒரு குழந்தைக்கு எதிரான குற்றத்திற்கு மன்னிப்புச் சீட்டாக இருக்கக்கூடாது.

“மகாநதி” திரைப்படத்தில் கற்பனை செய்யப்பட்ட வெங்கடாச்சலம் போன்ற மனிதர்கள் உண்மையில் சமூகத்தில் இருப்பார்களா என்று நான் சிறுவனாக இருந்தபோது கேட்ட கேள்விக்கு, இன்றைய இந்த வழக்கு மிகவும் வேதனையான பதிலை நம் முன் நிறுத்துகிறது.

ஒரு திரைப்படம் நம்மை அழ வைத்திருக்கலாம்.

ஆனால் நிஜ வாழ்க்கையில் ஒரு குழந்தையின் கண்ணீருக்கு காரணமானவர்கள் யாராக இருந்தாலும் - அவர்களை சட்டத்தின் கூண்டில் நிறுத்தி, உண்மை முழுவதையும் வெளிக்கொண்டு வந்து, சட்டம் அனுமதிக்கும் உச்சபட்ச தண்டனையை பெற்றுத்தருவதே அந்தக் குழந்தைகளுக்கான உண்மையான நீதி.

The Tamil Nadu police department, once celebrated as the best in our country, has become, over the past few years, a corrupt and incompetent department that does the politicians’ bidding. The initial investigation of the POCSO case against GEM Veeramani, the pedophile who had reportedly sexually exploited many young children, is an example of what the TN police department has transformed into.

Despite the existence of video evidence of the alleged sexual abuse of a minor, the police sought to close the investigation, as they could not identify the victim and the perpetrator. The court refused to accept the report and ordered further investigation.

After reopening the investigation, the police arrested GEM Veeramani and his accomplices and have since identified the minor in the video. More significantly, the investigation has reportedly uncovered multiple survivors, including several who were minors at the time, suggesting that the abuse may have continued over many decades. This case is a stark reminder of the difference that a few upright and determined police officers can make. The swift action taken by the TVK Government following the court's intervention deserves appreciation.

Yesterday, the State police department arrested a former employee of GEM Granites who was in possession of an obscene video involving GEM Veeramani. The investigation cannot stop with GEM Veeramani and his accomplices. Every police officer, politician and influential individual who helped shield him for the past many years must also be brought to justice. It is also reported that a huge sum of money was exchanged in this process. A Special Investigation Team must be constituted immediately to uncover the entire network that allowed this to continue for so long.

It is also important that the TN Police do not repeat past mistakes and that the identities of all victims are safeguarded.

ஒரு காலத்தில் நம் நாட்டிலேயே சிறந்த காவல்துறையாகப் பாராட்டப்பட்ட தமிழ்நாடு காவல்துறை, கடந்த சில ஆண்டுகளில் ஊழல் நிறைந்ததாகவும், திறமையற்றதாகவும், அரசியல்வாதிகளின் விருப்பத்திற்கு ஏற்ப செயல்படும் துறையாகவும் மாறியுள்ளது. பல இளம் குழந்தைகளை, பாலியல் ரீதியாக துன்புறுத்திய pedophile குற்றவாளியான GEM கிரானைட்ஸ் வீரமணிக்கு எதிரான போக்சோ வழக்கின் ஆரம்பகட்ட விசாரணையை, தமிழ்நாடு காவல்துறை எப்படி கையாண்டது என்பது இதற்கு ஒரு எடுத்துக்காட்டாகும்.

சிறுமி ஒருவர் பாலியல் ரீதியாகத் துன்புறுத்தப்பட்டதற்கான வீடியோ ஆதாரம் இருந்தபோதிலும், பாதிக்கப்பட்டவரையும், குற்றத்தைச் செய்தவரையும் அடையாளம் காண முடியவில்லை என்று காரணம் கூறி, தமிழ்நாடு காவல்துறை விசாரணையை முடித்து வழக்கை மூட முயன்றது. ஆனால், அந்த அறிக்கையை நீதிமன்றம் ஏற்க மறுத்ததுடன், மேலதிக விசாரணை நடத்தவும் உத்தரவிட்டது.

விசாரணை மீண்டும் தொடங்கப்பட்ட பின்னர், காவல்துறை GEM கிரானைட்ஸ் வீரமணியையும், அவருடன் தொடர்புடையவர்களையும் கைது செய்ததுடன், அந்த வீடியோவில் இடம்பெற்றிருந்த சிறுமியும் தற்போது அடையாளம் காணப்பட்டுள்ளார். அதைவிட முக்கியமாக, விசாரணையில் மேலும் பலர் பாதிக்கப்பட்டுள்ளனர் என்ற விவரம் வெளிச்சத்திற்கு வந்துள்ளது. அவர்களில் பலர், இந்த பாலியல் தாக்குதல் நடைபெற்ற காலத்தில், சிறார்களாக இருந்தவர்கள் என்றும் தெரிய வருகிறது. இதன் மூலம், இந்த பாலியல் அத்துமீறல்கள், பல வருடங்களாக தொடர்ந்து நடைபெற்றிருக்கக்கூடும் என்ற அதிர்ச்சியான தகவலும் வெளிப்பட்டிருக்கிறது.

நேற்று, GEM கிரானைட்ஸ் நிறுவனத்தின் முன்னாள் ஊழியர் ஒருவரை, GEM வீரமணி தொடர்பான ஆபாச வீடியோவை தன்னிடம் வைத்திருந்ததாகக் கூறி தமிழ்நாடு காவல்துறை கைது செய்துள்ளது. இந்த விசாரணையானது, வீரமணி மற்றும் அவருடன் தொடர்புடையவர்களுடன் முடிவடைந்து விடக்கூடாது. கடந்த பல ஆண்டுகளாக அவரை பாதுகாக்கவும், அவருக்கு ஆதரவாகச் செயல்படவும் உதவிய ஒவ்வொரு காவல்துறை அதிகாரியும், இதில் தொடர்புடைய ஒவ்வொரு அரசியல்வாதியும் என, தனது செல்வாக்கைப் பயன்படுத்தி இந்த வழக்கை நீர்த்துப் போக முயற்சித்த ஒவ்வொரு நபரும், சட்டத்தின் முன்பாக நிறுத்தப்பட வேண்டும்.

இந்த வழக்கில், மிகப்பெரிய அளவில் பணம் கைமாறியதாகவும் தகவல்கள் வெளியாகியுள்ளன. இத்தனை ஆண்டுகளாக, இந்தக் குற்றச் செயல்கள் தொடர அனுமதித்த அத்தனை நபர்களையும் வெளிக்கொண்டு வருவதற்காக, உடனடியாக ஒரு சிறப்பு புலனாய்வுக் குழு (SIT) அமைக்கப்பட வேண்டும்.

மேலும், தமிழ்நாடு காவல்துறை கடந்த காலத்தில் செய்த தவறுகளை மீண்டும் செய்யாமல் இருப்பதும் மிகவும் முக்கியம். இந்த வழக்கில் பாதிக்கப்பட்ட அனைத்து நபர்களின், குறிப்பாக சிறார்களாக இருந்தவர்களின் அடையாளங்களும் முழுமையாகப் பாதுகாக்கப்பட வேண்டும். பாதிக்கப்பட்டவர்களின் பாதுகாப்பு மற்றும் கண்ணியம் எந்த நிலையிலும் சமரசம் செய்யப்படக் கூடாது.

கிட்டத்தட்ட 1989 லிருந்து இவன் மீது புகார்கள் வந்த வண்ணம் தான் இருந்தன.. ஆனால் அனைத்திற்கும் பணத்தால் சரி கட்டி ஒரு பெரிய மனிதனாக வளம் வந்திருக்கிறான்.. இப்பொழுது கையும் களவுமாக பிடிக்கையில் திமுக நீங்களும் தான் பணத்தை வாங்கி இருக்கீங்க என்று சொல்லி சர்வசாதாரணமாக கடந்து செல்கிறது..
சொல்லப்போனால் இந்த வழக்கை அரசியலுக்காக இல்லாமல் நேர்மையாக விசாரிக்கப்பட்டால் ஒட்டுமொத்த தமிழக அரசியலும் நாறித்தான் போகும் போல.,.
ஆனால் அதற்கு வாய்ப்பிருப்பதாக தெரியவில்லை பத்தோடு ஒன்று பதினொன்றாக இந்த வழக்கும் நீர்த்து தான் போக வைப்பார்கள் அதுதான் நமது சிஸ்டம்.....
எனக்கென்னமோ அண்ணா பல்கலைக்கழக மேட்டரில் பேசப்பட்ட அந்த சார் இவராகத்தான் இருக்குமோ என்று எண்ணத் தோன்றுகிறது...
காரணம் வீரமணி அலுவலகம் கோட்டூர்புரத்தில் தான் இருப்பதாக சொல்லப்படுகிறது..😤
