Principles of Engineering students quickly create, control, test and redesign machine prototypes @MahopacSchools. More torque needed: students bench-test a VEX V5 motor as a potential upgrade.
The next SNHS guest lecture will be from 2:05 to 2:45, this Wednesday, March 30th in the mini theater. We will be able to hear from Dr. Rick Bridgham, an orthodonist from Somers!! Please DM this account if you have any questions!!
Thank you, Dr. Rooney, for an inspirational talk to the MHS SNHS students about you career path in orthodontics. So great to witness community members giving back to our students!
Barbara McClintock was an American scientist and cytogeneticist. Barbara grew up in Connecticut and New York. Unfortunately, her family didn’t have much money.
Through the 1940s and 1950s Barbara proved that genetic elements can change position in a chromosome, causing nearby genes to become initiative or active. Her research and findings paid off in the end because she was the first American woman to win an unshared Nobel Prize!
Edith Clarke was a pioneering electrical engineer at the beginning of the 20th century. Clarke worked as a “computer,” performing difficult math calculations before modern day calculators were invented.
Clarke is an inspiration to us all because she paved the way for women in many STEM and engineering fields. Her work has been celebrated, as shown by her induction to the National Inventors Hall of Fame in 2015.
Just a reminder that we have a guest lecture tomorrow from Allyson DeMerlis. Allyson will be giving an Introduction to Coral Reefs. It will take place from 2:10-3:10 PM in Mrs.Stephens Classroom (247). @MahopacSchools
