I’m getting more and more referrals from urgent care centers and ER with the reason on the request letter as “please see with complex medical problems (usually very legit problems like cancer or heart disease), patient does not have a family doctor and can’t access care”

It’s a big problem. I’m getting 15 plus new patient referrals most days. That is not sustainable when many patients have no primary care physician to go back to for long term follow up. NPs and PAs are not just nice they are essential. Otherwise more and more will fall through the cracks. Canyons. Valles Marineris at this stage even.
