بِسْمِ ٱللَّهِ ٱلرَّحْمَٰنِ ٱلرَّحِيمِ

O Allah, Most Merciful, Most Compassionate,
to You alone we turn with hearts heavy and hands raised.
Ease our affairs, O Lord of ease, and lighten every burden that weighs upon us. Secure our lives under Your protection; shield us from harm, fear, and sudden calamity. Protect our dignity, Ya Karim, and do not let us be humiliated in this world or the next. Bless every endeavor we undertake for Your sake, and make our steps firm upon the path that pleases You.
Cover us with Your Grace, O Rahman, and pour Your Mercy over our faults until they are washed away.

And for our beloved country, Nigeria:

O Allah, grant her security from violence and unrest. Restore dignity to her people, and bless her with prosperity that reaches every home and every soul. Make her a land of peace, justice, and abundance, and let her citizens live with honor under Your watchful care.

Ya Allah, we are weak; You are strong. We are in need; You are free of all need. Answer us, for You are the Best of those who answer.

Ameen.

This brings back fond memories of our many road trips across Nigeria in 2022–23 —especially the night we spent sleeping in our cars at a fueling station in the forest outside Kaiama, Kwara State.

BREAKING: This afternoon, bandits reportedly spent more than four hours operating in Yargada community, Magami District, Gusau LGA, Zamfara State.

Local sources say the bandits abducted at least 40 women, killed one person, injured several others, burned six vehicles and broke into several shops.

Security authorities and government representatives were reportedly alerted, but residents say no assistance arrived during the attack.

How can bandits operate for more than four hours after authorities have been alerted without an intervention?
