0-2 and obviously not the start we wanted to the finals.
Hart gets in early foul trouble which took away some key first half minutes, still think his scoring edge is there this series. Kornet got the minutes as projected, just couldn’t capitalize.
Let’s bounce back in Game 2🤝

NBA Finals Game 1 POTD💎
Josh Hart O 15.5 PA (-125)
Great spot for Hart in Game 1 of this series. Similar to the last series, and as has been the case for the majority of this Knicks' playoff run, teams are willing to leave him open and concede jumpers.
The Spurs just put on a masterclass defending SGA in the WCF, and I expect them to take a similar approach to Brunson, maybe not at the same level, due to the Knicks having more reliable C&S guys on the floor, but the one guy they will leave would be Hart.
2-game sample here for Hart against the Spurs this season, one of which was on March 1st, when Wemby was fully healthy and in the starting lineup. In that game, we saw Wemby play raomer off of Hart, which led to him getting up 14 FGAs. While he shot the ball poorly (4/14), he still covered with 17 PA. That brings me to my next angle: the assists.
I expect a ton of ball pressure on Brunson this series. That should lead to some more off-ball actions for him, with Hart as the initiator, trying to draw Wemby out of the paint and get him on his heels. In that March 1st game, Hart racked up 7 dimes on 9 potentials.
Overall, I believe Hart will need to get it rolling to keep Wemby honest in this series and allow the Knicks' offense to take form. It's either that, or Hart sees the bench in favor of Shamet or McBride, but I believe Josh's overall impact should keep him on the floor, and he should get plenty of open looks.
