@nytdavidbrooks I'm not sold on this use of "trained"... My wife is a school teacher, my kids are elementary students. I hear a lot of *intentional* lessons around respect of others.
@midwestmagic93@GovWhitmer Sidewalk level bike lanes are a great idea... But they aren't just sidewalks. That gets cyclists hurt/killed at driveways more often.
@schmangee Can us dreamers who want X rely on local governments to deliver X? Our systems are really strained and we just keep dreaming for a brighter future like ppl with lottery tix in hand. We have to make commitments to invest in good governance as a foundation for any shared solution.

SB1697 prohibits AZ from building bike or ped paths next to highways or accept federal money that requires these. So good luck getting needed federal funds for our highways, but also as we see SR30, don't expect to see your friends across the freeway unless you drive. (4/5)
You may have a sigh of relief. SB 1122, which could have irresponsibly disrupted a comprehensive transportation system for the region, has thankfully FAILED.

@mateosfo Isn't that @AARP? They are voicing support for great stuff, creating technical guides for walkable communities, and offering funding and trainings. ๐
@Boenau Analogy: cake prices, cake variety, and cake access isn't sufficiently analyzed by how many cake pans you have, or how long it takes to preheat your oven, or whether NIMBYs spoil your batter. There's so much more to it: ingredient prices, oven costs, kitchen space, bakers, etc
First EVER News Alert, but for good reason before a transportation tax plan is locked in for 20 years that ignores the diverse voices that came together in developing MAG Momentum. #SB1122
Podcast update on SB1122: https://t.co/CdOvGYflFo
After scanning @azcentral - it stinks there is zero coverage on this threat to a diverse, affordable, equitable transportation system currently underway in the AZ Senate.
SB 1122 abandons MAG Momentum supporting all transportation modes, and instead proposes 80% hwys, 15% arterials, and 5% transit, also striking multimodal language among other anti-bike/ped, anti-rail language. ValleyMetro's release: https://t.co/CkrntUxMNm
These bills oddly specifically target transportation practices that are emerging as best practice, pivoting from decades of failure: Massive highway expansion that OUTRIGHT FAILS in the long run to meet the objective of reduced congestion. Better title for the SBs: Fail like LA!
There's a very anti-bike/ped, anti-transit theme to this year's Senate Bills coming through committee! (multiple effort to strike any language of multimodal in multiple bills) https://t.co/zDvN0pUoS3
Transport'n + Tech Committee is scheduled to meet again Monday, Feb 13 @ 9 AM.
SCR 1018 prohibits the progression to a per-mile tax, however in a future with electric vehicles, this dangerously restricts a future with less gasoline sales and fewer revenues to ADOT for highway maintenance.
