This is a free open-source tool called Deep-Live-Cam. It replaces your face with anyone else's in real time, on any video call, using a single photo.

You don't need to train a model or build a dataset. You drop in one image, plug the output into Zoom or Teams as a virtual camera, and you become that person on screen.

In early 2024, a finance worker at the UK engineering firm Arup transferred $25 million after a video call with what he thought was his CFO. Every face on that call was a deepfake. The CFO was never actually there.

That was two years ago. The tools have only gotten faster, cheaper, and easier to use since.

On the dark web, real-time deepfake services for video conferences are now being sold from around $30, with custom face and voice profiles included.

Voice cloning needs about three seconds of audio. Face cloning needs one photo. Both run live on consumer hardware while you talk.

The era of "I saw them on video so it must be them" is over. The new default is to assume nothing and verify everything.
