🎥 Ethiopian Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed has praised the close ties between Kenya and Ethiopia during Mashujaa Day celebrations at Kipchoge Keino Stadium in Uasin Gishu County.

Addressing Kenyans on October 20, Abiy drew parallels between the two countries’ struggles for freedom.

He recalled the 1952 arrest of Jomo Kenyatta and other Kenyan leaders, and Ethiopia’s defense of its homeland in 1896, saying both histories reflected a determination to protect dignity and shape the future

Had the honour of receiving H.E. Dr @AbiyAhmedAli, Prime Minister of Ethiopia, ahead of the 63rd Mashujaa Day celebrations at Kipchoge Keino Stadium in Eldoret, Uasin Gishu County.

Presided over by H.E. President @WilliamsRuto, this year's celebrations, themed, 'Ngao Yetu, Ustawi Michezoni na Uchumi Bora,' bring together national and regional leaders to honour the courage, sacrifice and contributions of our heroes and heroines in shaping our nation's past and future.

Today, I had the honour of attending Mashujaa Day in Eldoret, Kenya, where I delivered remarks paying tribute to the heroes who fought for freedom and those who made the ultimate sacrifices to safeguard their nation. I honour their courage and legacy!

Kenya’s history of courage and sacrifice resonates deeply with Ethiopia’s own story of Adwa, where Ethiopians from every corner of the country united to defend their homeland. These shared histories remind us that freedom was never given; it was won through courage, unity, and sacrifice.

As our histories are intertwined, so too must our futures be. Through the spirit of Medemer, Ethiopia and Kenya must continue building on our existing cooperation in clean energy, connectivity, telecommunications, and trade to create greater opportunities and shared prosperity for our people.

To all those honoured today, I salute you. Happy Mashujaa Day!
