Flew to KunMing for a family trip, it’s my dad’s birthday.

First day I was glued to my phone, LinkedIn, emails, X. Classic.

Then we turned a corner and found this group of people just… dancing and singing in the street.

Minority outfits, workers still in their gear trying to follow the steps, pure joy.

I stopped. Everyone stopped.

Been so busy building the product I forgot to build the memories.

@acadictive fair point, every disruption brings these conversations. But usually there’s time to adapt. The hiring freezes and headcount cuts happening right now aren’t all AI-washing. The pattern is familiar. The speed isn’t.

Had a coffee chat with a staff SA at a top tech company this morning.

He's on the front line. And what he sees confirms everything.

People say AI is just a bubble. It's not. Things are already moving, with or without your belief.

3 observations he shared:
- SaaS "per seat" pricing is on borrowed time. The pitch is literally "you'll need fewer engineers." The model can't survive its own sales narrative.

- He'd pick an infrastructure layer company over Anthropic. Application layer products, even the biggest names, go obsolete fast. Cursor was cool 6mo ago. Claude Code was cool 1mo ago. Codex is cool this week.

- No role is untouched. If your value only lives in the "how to do", the shelf life is shortening. The people who last are the ones who articulate demand well — to AI and to people.

This is a guy who sees the deals, the roadmaps, the conversations behind closed doors.
