Today first responders, elected officials, city staff and residents gathered in front of the Maitland Fire-Rescue Department to pay tribute and to share solemn respects on the 21st anniversary of 9/11. We will never forget.

Members of Maitland Fire-Rescue joined first responders from the Orlando Fire Department and other agencies today to climb 110 stories, or 2,200 steps, of the City National Bank building in downtown Orlando to honor the 343 firefighters lost on Sept. 11, 2001.

Maitland firefighters, police officers and city officials will gather Sunday, Sept. 11, to recognize victims of the 9/11 terrorist attacks. A brief ceremony will begin shortly after 9:45 a.m. in front of Fire Station 45, located next to Maitland City Hall at 1776 Independence Ln.

Today Maitland Fire-Rescue Engine 47 and Rescue 45 participated in active shooter hostile emergency response (ASHER) training at the Valencia College East Campus with Orange County, City of Orlando, Winter Garden Fire Rescue Department and Ocoee Fire Department.
