Congratulations to Lutfur Rahman — re-elected Mayor of Tower Hamlets.
Aspire has taught establishment parties a simple lesson: the most effective way to win is to implement economic policies that improve people’s lives!
Thank you to the people of Tower Hamlets for re-electing me and continuing the revolution we started in 2022.
We became the first party outside Labour, Conservatives and Lib Dems to win a London borough outright, leading a shift away from the main parties which has now become a political earthquake felt across London and the UK.
We made history and set an example to the rest of rhetorical country with our transformative socialist policies and building thousands more affordable and social rent homes. I am incredibly proud of what we have achieved and our further plans to improve the lives of residents in Tower Hamlets.
In Tower Hamlets, Labour & their right-wing media mates are resorting to desperate smears against Aspire. There's a simple reason:
They can't stand that @LutfurRahmanTH has delivered for the people, not the powerful.
This Thursday, re-elect Lutfur & Aspire!
Wes Streeting smears Tower Hamlets because he and Labour can't handle a simple truth:
@LutfurRahmanTH & Aspire have delivered for the many, not the few.
If Wes Streeting actually paid attention to our borough he would see the only council in the country providing free school meals to every single school child, as well as the EMA and university bursaries, universal free homecare for elderly and disabled residents and much more.
But it's no surprise that Mr Streeting is attacking us when Labour is facing historic defeat.
Unlike the 9 Labour-led London councils currently being bailed out from bankruptcy by this government, Tower Hamlets is investing £250million in services and unprecedented cost of living support to residents, while increasing our financial reserves. Can Mr Streeting say the same of any Labour council?
Thank you @jeremycorbyn for championing our socialist policies in Tower Hamlets from universal free homecare for all elderly and disabled residents and universal free school meals, to restoring the EMA and Winter Fuel Allowance.
We are proud to stand alongside you in this movement against Labour's austerity and its support for Israel's crimes and to strive together for a more just and equal world https://t.co/rHSvSIrPKb
🍽️#Mayor#LutfurRahman stands by his investment in Tower Hamlets young people. Universal #FreeSchoolMeals are great value for money.

1/2 This isn’t affordable housing.
It’s a political choice.
In the middle of a housing crisis, Labour and the Independents are backing developers over residents. Tower Hamlets deserves councillors who put family homes first not spin.

1/1 Labour & Independent councillors have waved through a Millharbour scheme that gives developers exactly what they want:
👉 918 student units
👉 Just 59 social rented homes
They’re dressing it up as “35% affordable” by counting student rooms as if they house local families.
I am so pleased the purchase of our new Town Hall, which I led in 2014 on behalf of the Council, has been such a resounding success.
This has brought Council services to the heart of our borough, making them more accessible for residents, while also saving the Council millions of pounds.
Located in the former Royal London Hospital building on Whitechapel Road, our beautiful new Town Hall has also won two prestigious awards from the Royal Institute of British Architects.
Great to see BBC coverage of our plans for up to 10,000 new homes and significant employment space at Billingsgate, after the Fish Market's decision to move to Royal Docks.
We are already leading the way with one of the most ambitious affordable and social housing programmes in the country, delivering 6,441 affordable homes by this May.
We've delivered more homes than any other London borough since 2013 and we have a further 2,000+ homes for social rent in the pipeline at the moment, as well as the Mayor’s Accelerated Housing Programme fast-tracking an additional 3,332 new homes over the next 5 years to meet the needs of our residents. https://t.co/Nb60cAVDI4

🚨ANNOUNCEMENT: I am delighted to announce that 6,441 affordable homes are in delivery by this May.
As I reported at the official Full Council meeting tonight, the Council’s Corporate Director for Housing and Regeneration has confirmed 6,441 homes are in delivery or will have been delivered by this May.
We’ve put Tower Hamlets at the forefront of tackling London's housing crisis, delivering more homes than any other London borough since 2013, and we are now not just meeting but far exceeding our target in the 2022 election of 4,000 new affordable homes, by nearly 2,500 homes.
We have a further 2,000+ social rented homes in the pipeline at the moment, as well as the Mayor’s Accelerated Housing Programme fast-tracking an additional 3,332 new homes over the next 5 years — particularly larger, social rented family-sized and accessible homes.
I am incredibly proud that we are delivering one of the most ambitious plans in the country to build thousands more affordable and social rent homes to meet the needs of our residents.
Thank you to our Headteachers for a constructive meeting yesterday.
Attendance, safeguarding and SEND provisions remain key themes and your insights are crucial as we continue this work together.
