𝐏𝐥𝐚𝐲𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐧𝐚𝐫𝐫𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐯𝐞𝐬 𝐢𝐧 𝐜𝐫𝐲𝐩𝐭𝐨 𝐢𝐬 𝐥𝐮𝐜𝐫𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐯𝐞.
95% of people jump in to late.
5% are able to identify them early.
𝐍𝐚𝐫𝐫𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐯𝐞𝐬 𝐰𝐞’𝐯𝐞 𝐚𝐥𝐫𝐞𝐚𝐝𝐲 𝐬𝐞𝐞𝐧:
- GambleFi
- LSDs
𝐈𝐭 𝐢𝐬 𝐬𝐡𝐨𝐜𝐤𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐡𝐨𝐰 𝐞𝐚𝐬𝐲 𝐢𝐭 𝐢𝐬: 👇
1️⃣: 𝐆𝐨 𝐭𝐨 𝐃𝐞𝐅𝐢 𝐋𝐥𝐚𝐦𝐚 (@DefiLlama)
From here we can find trends in:
- Blockchains.
- Categories.
Let’s go and figure that out.
2️⃣: 𝐓𝐫𝐞𝐧𝐝𝐬 𝐢𝐧 𝐛𝐥𝐨𝐜𝐤𝐜𝐡𝐚𝐢𝐧𝐬
A: Go to the chains page
- Look at TVL across chains
- Look at which chains are gaining TVL
Now you can see if there has been growth in a chain.
B: Go to the stablecoin dashboard
- Look to see if people are bridging
Then you are able to workout if the trend is from either people who were already within the chain, or if there’s a trend of new participants coming in.
3️⃣: 𝐓𝐫𝐞𝐧𝐝𝐬 𝐢𝐧 𝐜𝐚𝐭𝐞𝐠𝐨𝐫𝐢𝐞𝐬
Go to the categories page
- Look at the total amount across categories
- Look for significant changes
This will enable you to see if there is a category that is outperforming the market.
A signal that it has a trend!
4️⃣: 𝐄𝐟𝐟𝐞𝐜𝐭𝐬
Now you have identified the trend you are going to see order effects.
First order effect would be the protocols directly involved in these trends doing well.
Second order effects would be protocols that are building use-cases around those direct protocols.
Example liquid staking derivatives trend:
First order effect:
- Lido does well as the governance token for a LSD.
Second order effect:
- Pendle does well that builds products for these LSDs.
5️⃣: 𝐒𝐮𝐦𝐦𝐚𝐫𝐲
- Find a trend.
- Eliminate protocols.
- Build a hypothesis.
- Stay nimble.
This was a thread that I wrote about my friend Patrick’s (@Dynamo_Patrick) method.
I wanted to trial the content in a long-form tweet, what do you think? 👇
Also, it only takes 0.23 seconds to click retweet, it will genuinely make my day.
