This morning, I was privileged to launch the State of Uganda Population Report 2025 (SUPRE) under the theme “Mental Health: A Silent Emergency.”
The report shows that reported mental cases increased by more than 70% between 2021 and 2024. one in 4 Ugandans is affected

Day 2 of the #EastAfricanMentalHealthSummit2025 kicked off with reflections from Day 1, with rich dialogue on harmonizing evidence-based mental health care with local wisdom, philosophies, and languages, and empowering community leaders to lead change from within. 💚

We opened with a powerful story from Innocent. Once imprisoned and struggling with depression, he found healing in a therapy group led by a fellow inmate. Today, he’s a group leader himself, supporting 300+ others on their journey to recovery.
