Ringbot: Leg-Wheel Transformer Robot with Monocycle Mobility
Ringbot is a robotic platform that integrates a monocycle configuration with legged locomotion, enabling adaptable mobility across varied environments. Developed by KIMLAB, the system replaces traditional monocycle drive components with compact, leg-equipped modules housed within the wheel structure.
This design reflects a research focus on novel mobility solutions, combining mechanical innovation and robotics to achieve versatile movement in a compact form.

SpiRobs morphologically replicate the logarithmic spiral that is ubiquitous in natural organisms. They are easy and fast to build across scales via 3D printing. They are actuated by cables, which allow for fast and life-like movements. Besides, a single robot can handle a wide variety of objects (in terms of size, shape, and weight). A key to this is a bioinspired grasping strategy that is found in the octopus. Finally, this work demonstrates a wide range of prototypes, including a miniaturized gripper, a manipulator mounted on a drone, and multi-robot arrays that can grasp in a tendril-like fashion.

2024 was a busy year! 🎉 We launched three new 3D printers: the Prusa CORE One, Original Prusa MK4S, and the Prusa Pro HT90, released enclosures for the XL and Mini, updated our beloved PrusaSlicer to version 2.9, and brought you the new handy Prusa App. We added several new Prusaments to our lineup, started our new sub-brand Buddy3D, and kicked off the Printables Awards to celebrate our community’s designers. 🏆 We also hosted many design contests and published a number of articles ranging from a behind-the-scenes looks with Joel Telling (3D Printing Nerd) and Linus Tech Tips, to various Prusa Stories and tips on printing with HueForge or how to create safe and cool gadgets for toddlers. And that’s just a part of it. There was so much more! 😉
