Join us for a Super Midlands Maker Challenge @MuseumofMaking next week to be in with a chance of winning great prizes while coming up with solutions to climate change and the way we think about water use in our urban areas. Open to teams aged 16-21. https://t.co/5UbEfA8wmc
EXPLORING CLIMATE CHANGE. The challenge encourages exploration of the Climate (in)Action theme by providing a broad brief and suggested focus. Students have free reign to follow their passion and create anything they like with the potential to make change https://t.co/b6RC9XbYeA
UNDERSTANDING THE USER. The challenge prioritises the understanding of potential users using a person centred approach. Teams are encouraged to research individuals and groups to build their understanding and to lead to more meaningful solutions https://t.co/b6RC9XbYeA
A ‘YES, AND…’ approach to collaboration is encouraged, emphasising teamwork, listening and constructive idea sharing. Everyone is welcome, and all who take part will learn lifelong skills, including critical thinking, problem solving and communication https://t.co/b6RC9Xcw48
THE CHALLENGE IS LED BY THE STUDENTS. The Challenge asks teams of students aged 13-18 to identify a problem and create a solution either in school or the Museum of Making. Mentor support from industry professionals is available throughout https://t.co/b6RC9Xcw48
WE ARE ALL MAKERS. The Midlands Maker Challenge is a free programme that aims to inspire, empower, & encourage all students across the Midlands to become more creative and to see themselves as makers, be that in coding, knitting, building or making gadgets https://t.co/b6RC9XbYeA
As part of their celebration day we challenged @ParksideSch teams to make for the sake of making and they didn't disappoint with the inventions they created during the morning!
It was wonderful to welcome @ParksideSch to @derbymuseums at the @MuseumofMaking to take part in a celebration of their inventiveness & creativity in developing solutions to tackle climate change. The teams wowed the judges with their passion & drive! #youngmakers
Amazing day @MuseumofMaking for teams from @ParksideSch to present their projects. The students won prizes today in 4 categories! Wow! Thank you to @MakerMidlands for organising such a fantastic opportunity for our young people.

🛠 The Midlands Maker Challenge will be at Assemble: Derby's Making Festival this October! We'll be holding a tackling flooding challenge open to teams of young people from aged 16-21 years old. (Continued in thread…)
🌊 We are asking teams to consider how we might adapt the @MuseumofMaking or its surrounding environment to reduce the impact of flooding? We provide the materials for teams to prototype a solution to the challenge, all the teams need to bring is their enthusiasm and creativity!
The challenge includes visits to the Museum of Making (Art Fund Museum of the Year finalist), where young people can be inspired by 300 years of innovation and making. Find out more at: https://t.co/arkma0AhKC
