@weareprintlab@tinkercad@adskFusion Congrats to the team @BullisSchool for their winning design; Braille Boggle, designed as an educational English vocab game for visually impaired students. Thanks to @weareprintlab for organizing such a great challenge!
Thousands of students and makers have been working hard on the 2024 #MakeAbleChallenge - to design assistive devices using @tinkercad/@adskFusion and #3DPrinting. Today, we have the pleasure of introducing you to the winners! See the full lineup here - https://t.co/DC0JenxP8Q
Spanish IV students will be speaking about what they have learned about Mexico. Their "notes" will be a flag they designed with symbolism after watching @romanmars TED talk on city flags. These are printed on fabric on our Roland DTG printer. #MakerEd#3ModesofMaking
8th grade students are designing monuments and memorials in @tinkercad, like this in-progress one for Rigoberto Menchú. We found this page on @printablescom with 276 low poly figures that can be used as statues, visitors, etc! So helpful! https://t.co/aYJKy43iPY @nygaarddesign
Introducing Pinchee! A #3Dprinted assistive game designed in @adskFusion that encourages players to perform #arthritis pinching exercises and wrist rotations. Full design process video and open-source files coming soon! #STEM#MakeAbleChallenge
We finally have a finished version of @BullisSchool team's #MakeAbleChallenge submission: Braille Boggle. Our client is a blind English teacher at a school for the blind in Macedonia. Now it's submission video time! @weareprintlab
@TechieCoach303 A4 Great question. Unless you are teaching a technical class technology should only be used because it's the best tool for the job. Using tech solely to engage loses it's effectiveness over time and sidelines the value of the tool. #learnlap
@MrsRLovesTech We don't learn by doing, we learn by reflecting on what we did. Many reflection exercises are awful though. I like visible thinking routines where you can see the thinking, not just written responses.
@TechieCoach303 A4 I think of big projects as a series of creative moves. Address the biggest challenge, design a functional prototype, create a 4 week plan. Even though every students project is different, they all have similar challenges. They just might happen at different times. #learnlap
@TechieCoach303 Please do and let me know what you think! The 3 Modes I write about are imitation, modification, and innovation. It was published by Make in December, so still getting the word out.
@TechieCoach303 A3 Lots of strategies. One is Yes and... Students present an idea and classmates enthusiastically agree and add some new element to it. Drawn from improv comedy. Also use clients so students have to challenge assumptions about the solution. #LearnLAP
Another @shapertools trace project by a student. This student did a hand drawn bow, digitized it, and stitched it with gradient thread on the digital embroidery machine. SVG files are awesome. #MakerEd#Makerspace
@digitalkarl Wow, thank you so much! I appreciate the words and I'm glad the book is helpful for you. I really wanted to make something that was a resource for teachers to implement all the great projects ideas already out there.
Kindergarten leprechaun traps are set and ready to load. Today they worked with geometry students to assemble and decorate their nets from laser cut parts. Tomorrow they punch holes and run string so they can snap shut. 3D model purchased from MadeToLifeStudios on Cults3D.
