Applebaum is on record criticising the decision to consult the UN before invading Iraq, 16 March 2003, saying “the decision to conduct the invasion of Iraq in consultation with the United Nations … has been utterly disastrous.” On the war in Ukraine, she has also stated only a military victory is desirable: seeking Putin’s defeat rather than an “off-ramp”- 23 May 2022- “The West should not aim to offer Putin an off-ramp; our goal, our endgame, should be defeat.”
How are these views compatible with the views of a Taoiseach, let alone the foreign policy of a militarily neutral country? Yet you say they have ‘shaped’ you, Taoiseach?
A criminal trial began in Hamburg, Germany, on 14 October 2026 over the Nord Stream pipeline explosions. Serhii Kuznetsov, a Ukrainian military officer who denies the allegations, stands accused of organising the team that planted the explosives, in what is the single largest case of vital civilian infrastructure sabotage ever carried out in Europe - a heinous war crime, with devastating consequences for fuel prices, for European industry and indeed the European project itself.
Radek Sikorski, then a Polish MEP and now Polish deputy foreign minister, issued an outrageous response to the blowing up of Nordstream. ‘Thank You, USA’.
Sikorski is married to Applebaum.
What the Irish people deserve to know is whether your personal crusade to dismantle the Triple Lock, is a project guided by this same destructive military ideology expounded by Applebaum, which, if true, reflects the interests not of the civilians of Ireland or Europe, but those of the military industrial complex.

Alastair Crooke (@AWCrooke) names what the empire will not: the West has lost its economic foundations, interest payments on US debt exceed the defense budget, the financial system must be ripped up by its roots and largely started again, its wars are lost, and the political class has no language for telling its own people the truth.
“The West, including the United States, is in a period of severe decline. Everyone outside of the West can see that. Some people in Europe, our leaders, still think that nothing’s changed; everything can go on just as before. They will see that.
But is the United States, is the West ready to start adjusting, explaining to their own electorates and their own people that the West is no longer going to be supreme, is not going to be primus inter pares? It is going to be one amongst a number of powers. Are they going to manage this? How are they going to manage it?
Because the second part of this is precisely why I said the architecture is collapsing: there’s no answer to the contradictions in the economy. The economy has these basic contradictions which produce this binary economy of a huge increase in wealth, ostentatious wealth for a certain group at the top in the financial world, and then penury, precarity, as I put it, living on the edge for the rest of the world.
And how do you change that? You’d have to rip up the financial system by its roots and largely start again, because it’s not going to be killed by just trying to go back. The interest on that debt in the United States is more than the entire cost of the defense budget. I mean, it’s become huge. That’s just the interest; that’s not repaying the debt. And much of that debt has to be rolled over and then refinanced, as you do on a mortgage at the end of a period. You have to start refinancing, and they’ll say, well, sorry, you had it at a very favorable rate before, but now it’s going to cost you a lot more. And that’s happening in Europe and certainly in the United States.
So that structure, that whole architecture is broken by these three wars. And the answer to your question is: is the West psychologically capable of, first of all, understanding that, accepting it, and then finding the way to get out of that and to prepare their people for the sense that this is lost, this is a disaster, and that we have to find a way. Which means capitulation to Russia. It means capitulation in the Gulf States. And also perhaps waving goodbye to much of the Gulf architecture which was previously an American prerogative.”

Unless we are in a relationship, I am not obligated to acknowledge, affirm, or be exposed to your private desires—especially not in public, and especially not in front of children.
This used to be understood. Now it’s called hate.
No, We Don’t Owe You an Audience
Sexuality belongs in the private realm. It is intimate by definition. If you feel compelled to wear your kink on your sleeve—or on a float, or in a first-grade classroom—you are not inviting understanding, you are demanding submission. You are violating others’ right not to participate.
Consent doesn’t vanish because your fetish is “progressive.” If anything, the burden is higher.
No one consents to being flashed on the subway. No one consents to a stranger’s arousal. No one consents to a stranger telling their child about masturbation, kink, gender identity, or pornographic categories under the guise of “inclusive sex ed.” Yet all of this is happening now—in public parks, in classrooms, in televised programming.
It is not tolerance. It is invasion.
Children Are Not Here to Validate You
Children are not queer. Children are not sexual. Children do not need to “see themselves represented” in a spectrum of adult desire. This idea—that identity is only valid if sexualized and mirrored—is narcissism, not pedagogy.
There is no legitimate reason to initiate a child into the language of sexual preference, gender identity, or alternative lifestyles. The only people who benefit from that dynamic are those looking to normalize boundary violations.
Let me state it plainly:
Children who are not going to have sex do not need to be exposed to sexuality.
Period.
Any adult who insists otherwise is not confused. They are grooming.
Public Fetishism Is Not Liberation
There is a vast difference between being gay and demanding the right to simulate sex acts in front of children. Between being transgender and insisting on teaching kindergartners about breast removal. Between being proud of who you are and insisting the whole world observe your kink play in the street.
This is not diversity. This is decay.
Men in dog masks being walked on leashes by their lovers are not brave—they are forcing strangers into their psychodrama. This is exhibitionism, and when children are present, it becomes criminal exhibitionism.
We used to know this. Peeping, flashing, voyeurism—these were considered red flags. Dangerous behaviors. Early signs of escalation. Now they’re filmed, hashtagged, and funded by public grants.
Stop Calling It Love—It’s Entitlement
This is not about who you love. It’s about how you demand to be seen. If you need the entire public to witness, applaud, and adapt to your sexuality, you’re not a pioneer—you’re an emotional colonizer.
Love does not demand a captive audience. It does not parade past toddlers. It does not demand that schools teach four-year-olds about “preferred pronouns.” Love protects children. Love guards modesty. Love waits.
And if you can’t wait—if you need to be seen, affirmed, and obeyed—you’re not talking about love. You’re talking about power.
Consent Applies to Culture, Too
