A lawyer’s work extends far beyond defending those accused of crimes. Lawyers safeguard estates, facilitate property transfers, resolve civil disputes, draft contracts and joint ventures, register patents and trademarks, create trusts, advise companies and boards, and assist with estate planning, succession, and tax efficiency. We negotiate deals, shape national policy, and operate across fields such as labour law, health law, technology law, and many others. Criminal defence is only a small fraction of what the legal profession entails. Law is not merely about standing in court — it is about structuring society, protecting rights, and driving development in every sector. It is time we reform and elevate our understanding of what it truly means to be a LAWYER

I just finished watching this episode of Friday Drinks @fridaydrinks_ and the guest was FinLitBae. We deserve a part two. Kudzi has a great mind, too bad we don't want to elect pple like her. Anyway, l have three keypoints l would like to share:

1. You can't entrepreneur yourself out of a nonsense economy
2. An ecosystem is what makes entrepreneurship work
3. Entrepreneurs will find a way

I wish she had spoken further on Kenya's digital transformation and what our country can learn. We need her to teach us what true entrepreneurship is and what startups are? The Ministry doesn't know and we also don't know.

Congratulations to Donald Mhlanga and his brilliant team from Bindura University of Science Education for coming second at the 2025 Enactus World Cup, triumphing over hundreds of teams from across the globe.

The Enactus World Cup is an annual international competition where university students showcase entrepreneurial projects designed to tackle real social, economic, and environmental challenges in their communities.
Each team first competes nationally, and the winners go on to represent their countries on the global stage, presenting their innovations before panels of business leaders, academics, and experts.

Zimbabwe came second globally thanks to Bindura University of Science and Education.

Donald Mhlanga led a dynamic team of Last Baloyi, Tadiwa Takawira, Vimbai Euphasia Nyahuma, Jabulani Charity Mugonderwa, Tanyaradzwa Chanetsa, Tanaka Chimpelo, Tanaka Tempo, Billy Chitanda, and Liturgy Kufa.

Their projects included a seed coating initiative and an energy access innovation where they developed shoes capable of generating electricity to charge gadgets.

I personally love to see my compatriots winning awards because it once again proves that Zimbabwe has great minds. What we lack is not talent, but good political leadership to harness and support this brilliance.

With the right environment, these young innovators could change not only our country but the world.

The 2025 Enactus World Cup where Donald Mhlanga and his BUSE team came second was held in Astana, Kazakhstan.
