A good but not a pleasant read. Concerning is a dramatic understatement. We need to be doing everything in our power to remove religion from government! Laws and leadership must be built and guided by open empirical data not insular antiquated beliefs.
@canton thank you for making your astronomy calendar public!
A great solution to the seemingly arbitrary restriction of google calendar's built in lunar phase calendar being unable to sync to their mobile app. I also appreciate the addition of some non-lunar event notes as well!
This is a staggeringly impressive piece of reporting. https://t.co/yEPhPggNRo
Also just the story itself and some of the quotes within it made me want to throw my phone.
We have so much work to do in this country to wrestle power away from those who desire a disengaged citizenry.
Apropos of nothing, just a friendly reminder to audio plugin manufactures that there are exactly zero plugins that are so important we'd rather subscribe to your entire company than find a single perpetual alternative.
Also while you're here, hampering offline use is not the way.
Is it just me or are a lot of the core services of the internet getting worse? To me it seems like everything from social feed / content platform recommendations, to ecommerce store flows, to just baseline search results are all of a noticeably lower quality now than in the past.
We have a new song out today! It's called A Letter. It's short, sweet, and will (probably) bring you good fortune if you listen to it.

Man this article paints a dark picture, nowhere is perfect but this country desperately needs to start learning. It's not theoretical either, we can objectively see that other flawed humans can and do plan, build, maintain, and live within better systems.
@lkherman He's doing the Ricciardo move...except to a team with even more questionable prospects of getting to the front. Unless the environment at Alpine/Renault is truly miserable imo they both would have had more enjoyable ends to their careers if they just stayed with 🇫🇷 for a while 🤷♂️
The more times we all watch this country repeatedly betray its population, the less sustainable the current structure gets. We also (frustratingly) understand better alternatives have already been successfully implemented in many of our "peer" countries & this was not inevitable.
@C_Siegert Haha nope, just a motorsport fan with some opinions. I guess in theory if steering is automated those parts would need a way to send positioning feedback to the brain, so maybe there are ways to measure those tolerances...but I'm definitely not qualified to even speculate on how.
Can you imagine if a company tried to sell a car with non user-replaceable tires? It's unthinkable because it's obvious the useful life of cars is orders of magnitude longer than the useful life of tires.
Devices with non user-replaceable batteries should be equally unthinkable.
