Saving Lives Through Action: Katsina LG Chairman Approves Construction of New MCHC as Existing Gidan Dawa Kudu 3 Health Facility Nears Collapse
Demonstrating his unwavering commitment to protecting lives and strengthening primary healthcare delivery, the Executive Chairman of Katsina Local Government, Hon. Isah Miqdad, has approved the construction of a new Maternal and Child Health Centre (MCHC) at Gidan Dawa Kudu 3 following the discovery of severe structural defects in the existing facility.
The decision was reached after a comprehensive structural assessment confirmed that the current health centre had deteriorated significantly and was at imminent risk of collapse, posing a grave danger to patients, healthcare personnel, and members of the surrounding community.
Determined to avert a potential tragedy and guarantee uninterrupted access to quality healthcare services, the administration deemed it imperative to replace the dilapidated structure with a modern, safe, and well-equipped Maternal and Child Health Centre.
Upon completion, the new facility will provide a conducive environment for the delivery of quality maternal and child healthcare services, improve access to essential medical care, and enhance the overall wellbeing of residents of Gidan Dawa Kudu 3 and adjoining communities.
The approval further reflects the commitment of the Hon. Isah Miqdad-led administration to investing in critical healthcare infrastructure and implementing people-centred projects that directly improve the lives of the people of Katsina Local Government.

It is with deep gratitude that I commissioned a solar-powered borehole for the Sabuwar Unguwa (Kwabren Dorowa) community as part of our efforts to combat water scarcity and deliver safe, clean water to our community. Despite limited resources, we will keep dedicating funds to projects that directly benefit our communities.
I want to thank His Excellency, Malam Dikko Umaru Radda, Governor Malam Dikko Radda of Katsina State, for not interfering with local government funds and for creating an environment that allows us to carry out projects directly.
Yesterday, I represented the National President of ALGON, Hon. (Engr.) Bello Lawal, as well as the Chairman of ALGON Katsina State Chapter, at the ALGON/World Bank National Dialogue on Achieving Universal Health Coverage (UHC) held at Fraser Suites, Abuja.
The high-level national dialogue convened local government chairmen, senior government officials, development partners, financial institutions, health experts, and digital innovators to explore practical strategies for strengthening Nigeria's health system under the theme: "Strengthening Digital Health Systems for Universal Health Coverage through Financial Inclusion, Improved Primary Healthcare Outcomes and Better MAMII Outcomes."
Delivering the address on behalf of the ALGON National President and the Katsina State ALGON Chairman, I reaffirmed the association's unwavering commitment to advancing primary healthcare through digital transformation, financial inclusion, and stronger collaboration among the Federal Government, state governments, local government councils, and development partners. He emphasized that local governments remain at the forefront of delivering accessible and quality healthcare to Nigerians.
The Same Opposition Parties That Wanted INEC To Guarantee Real Time Transmission of Results Could Not Offer It In Their Primary Election. Like I Said Five Months Ago, It Is Unrealistic
“Senator Oshiomhole, for the last time, if you become unruly in the Senate, we will use the same rules to remove you from the Senate.”
- Senate President Godswill Akpabio tells Sen. Adams Oshiomhole, as Sen. Oshiomhole protests against new rules on Senate leadership, which will affect him, Imo State Governor Hope Uzodimma, and others from contesting for Senate presidency in 2027.
For the past few days, I have seen the magnitude of love. At the same time, the criticism received from people who really thought I was going to contest for the House of Representatives seat of Katsina Federal Constituency.
A week ago, I tweeted about contenders for the seat and a possible scenario of a latecomer (whom everyone thought was me). Still, as the number one citizen of my local government, I should have information that no one else does concerning my area of specialization.
Now that the flag bearer has emerged, I wish him the best in the general elections, and as a dedicated party man, I will do everything within my means to ensure he succeeds.
One day, I will narrate the events that unfolded behind the scenes in the making of this consensus, which none of you here have any idea about.
In politics, there is compromise, sacrifice, and give-and-take. For us who are young in the game, the future ahead looks bright. For the contestants, the journey is just getting started with numerous opportunities that lie ahead.
In Katsina Local Government, we have decided to invest in legacy projects, projects that outlive administrations, projects that shape destinies, projects that carry weight and impact.
We have 5 major contenders so far:
The incumbent Hon Sani Danlami, Ibrahim Ali Guguwa, Haruna Maiwada, Lawal Joker & Abdulrashid Abba Ali. There is a latecomer who will also declare soon.
