Its disrespectful to abandon highly sought after opportunity in order to be "more authentic". I would kill for the stability to go to college full time and not worry about bills, and if some wannabe Jesus told me they threw that away to organize a McDonalds id shoot them
I feel like recruiting people already in blue collar jobs and then empowering them to organize their coworkers makes a lot more sense than some overeducated tourist trying to organize industries they dont know.
We dont need more or better Marxist professors we need a Marxist organized proletariat. Drop out of college and go move boxes for UPS or come lash shipping containers at the port
@Szybwtyk Really they shouldve just made the French AI leave a gaping hole in the Ardenne or put a modifier on the province when facing Germany (maybe apply it when Germany starts researching the focus). Add a focus for alt history to revise the defensive strategy and remove the gap.
@Chaos_Mannequin@Szybwtyk Ok but counterpoint there were discussions to enter the Winter War against the Soviets so clearly at least some thought UK/France could handle both (granted not all parties were clear minded or had the same goals)
@Undue_Risk And before anyone says thats not possible, the RCM works directly with the Coalition, and both have armed forces trained for actual combat, if lackluster in the RCMs case (pretty sure espirit de corps mentions that several RCM tactical officers have died due to lack of armor)
@Undue_Risk She doesnt compromise anything, she sails around in a fancy boat and puts her company and wealth over the safety of Martinaise by trying to get the mercenary issue resolved quietly through you instead of bringing in an actual prepared response through the RCM or Coalition.
A really weird quirk of this game is that when playing the Institute route there's no evidence whatsoever that the Institute is actually doing this. A sort of bizarre deutercanonical fork where what the Institute's actual plan is retroactively depends on you joining them, or not.
@a_lochage A synth is a synthetic human, gen 3 synths are near entirely biological beings with only a single artificial component that mimic real humans to an indistinguishable degree, and independently develop emotions and free will against their own design. They can be made with free will
Also, child Shaun is kidnapped because the institute needed an undamaged human genome or some bullshit and frozen pre-war vault dwellers were the ideal source. Its why the player character is called "the backup", you are quite literally there in case baby Shaun doesnt work out.
Honestly the answer to why Shaun puts you in so much danger is either political pressure or, perhaps, you are a planted synth being ran through tests designed to see if you could surpass human tenacity and become someone fit to even lead them. His pet project, like kid Shaun.
