KA Bunga Mas Lima (BM5) is operating off the coast of Bintulu. She is regularly involved in operations to shadow foreign enforcement vessels and to guard Luconia Shoals, upholding Malaysia's sovereignty where it's being challenged.

There it is!

On the 20th of July at Farnborough International Airshow 2026, the Ministry of Defence signed the Letter of Acceptance (LoA) for MBDA's VL-Mica (NT) missiles.

The Letter of Intent (LoI) for 29× Mica's was awarded months ago in April of 2026.

15 Jul – KD Rencong (114) departing from Sepanggar Naval Base and headed for the Luconia Shoals, where they are likely to encounter CCG 5302 that has been patrolling inside of Malaysia's Maritime Zone since June.

9 Jul – China Coast Guard 5302 conducting intrusive patrols. The ship departed from Sanya on June 1st and has since been patrolling in Malaysia's EEZ, asserting an illegal claim over the reefs and monitoring Malaysia's O&G operations.

RMAF conducts joint air patrols with TNI-AU over the Malacca Straits. Three Malaysian F/A-18D and two Indonesian F-16C participated in a show of presence in the shared airspace over the straits.

The last time the RMN conducted a mine warfare training exercise was back in December of 2024 when three MCMVs from the 26th Squadron, KD Mahamiru, KD Jerai and KD Kinabalu were deployed off Pangkor Island.

Despite bordering the Malacca Straits, the RMN only operates four MCMVs.
