It was because of him that it was agreed to have the Civil List where all the profits from his estates go to HMRC. The Monarch gets 11% paid back from his own taxes. The UK have been paid many more times that amount back !

The Monarch doesn’t pay inheritance tax so that assets held in trust for the nation are not split up. All other royals do.
The Monarchs estates are not owned personally but approx 11% of the profits pay for the management of the palaces, workers and royal duties.

@PeterTatchell @RepublicStaff Luckily, the monarch pays out for most of these palaces, their official duties and staff salaries via the Soverign grant from the profit off their own land and estates. Better then giving it all up to the public and National Trust to be paid by the Tax Payer !

@PeterTatchell @RepublicStaff I might have known you’d pop out of your box. The Royals have 3 palaces although access to over 20 but not owned by them. The Monarch has been exempt from paying tax for centuries up until 1993 when the Queen voluntarily paid IT on her private income which continues !

@PhilMyers53 I seem to remember he had no ministerial or government position at the time of Brexit. As it was and still is, the best thing we can do is get back to a Soverign State, draft our own position on HR and create the same terms and commercial open borders as was with the EEC !
