Came across ‘Afghani lasi’ recently.
Ironic considering Afghans/Pashtuns are genetically almost completely lactase non persistent (struggle to digest milk sugars, which give them intestinal discomfort as a result).
Likely picked up during their time in Panjab as cheap labourers
This is not ''Afghan'' Biriyani neither such thing exists. Its Sajji-Chawal a common dish in Pakistan. Its basically spices infused Rice with whole chicken or lamb cooked on open slow flame. Millions of Afghan live/lived in Pakistan picked and adopted local Foods which is normal.
@ArchVisionW That Hindkowan chail is mainly worn by Pashtuns from Swabi (and Mardan to a lesser extent). Only a few Hindkowans in Haripur by the border with Swabi wear it. And it's not a proper dress to wear at functions, but more like a burqa. Also, Hindkowan = Hazarewal.
Exactly the Pakol is hat of people of Chitral-Gilgit-Baltistan, it has no connection to Pushtuns.
Actual Pushtun headwear is Turban (Lungee) wrapped around head with a tail falling. They dont have Kulla (dome cap) and Turla/Shamla (end of the fabric is fanned out on top) either.
Why this man speaking Pashto in GB, where no one knows Pashto?
Never accept such linguistic chauvinists in Gilgit-Baltistan who ignore our language and identity. If he wants to speak the regional language, he should speak the language of Gilgit-Baltistan
The Prophet (PBUH) said:
"When there are three people, two should not hold a private conversation to the exclusion of the third, for that will grieve him."
Sahih Bukhari (6290) and Sahih Muslim (2184)
Pashtuns speak Pashto to one another even when others in gathering cannot understand it, a jahilana habit. Islam explicitly forbids 2 people from whispering to exclude a third, and using a language others don't understand to creates same wall of exclusion. Clearly Haram in Islam.
Every politician, whether from Punjab or Sindh, speaks Urdu in GB. But why Pathans from KPK speak Pashto in GB, where no one knows Pashto?
This is linguistic chauvinism, & it threatens the identity & language of Gilgit-Baltistan. We should reject such linguistic chauvinists.
