Vince was a titan of the industry. His amazing catalog of work shaped modern games, and are many of the reasons why I wanted to make them. The greatest moment of my career was getting to join his incredible team at Respawn. This is an incredibly sad and heartbreaking day.

We're heartbroken by the passing of our founder and dear friend Vince Zampella.

Vince was a titan and legend of this industry, a visionary leader and a force who shaped teams and games like Call of Duty, Titanfall, Apex Legends, the Star Wars Jedi series and Battlefield for our community in ways that will be felt for generations.

His impact reached far beyond any one game or studio. We will remember Vince for how he showed up every day, trusting his teams, encouraging bold ideas, and believing in Respawn & Battlefield. Most importantly, he championed what he believed was right for the people behind those studios and our players because it mattered.

We will miss him greatly.

Our hearts are with his family, friends, and all who love him.

I'm still not over how much of a game design triumph it was to separate out the shield core and actual shield.

It completely removed the cognitive load of deciding when it's a good idea to go for a shield swap.
Before shield generators you had to take into consideration:
- Swapping vs being able to circle back to pick back up your old higher lvl shield.
- Your higher lvl shield falling into the hands of an enemy.
- Your skill to farm future damage/evo.
- Keeping track of where, which enemy, with which shield died, to swap to their higher lvl shield.
- Which teammate on which legend on what loadout should have the highest lvl armour.

And that doesn't even touch on Evo harvesters, removing crafting material or getting evo from more sources than just damage and how that removed RNG, incentivized gameplay besides hot-dropping, completely changed the edge vs zone playstle and so much more.

Has to be in the Top 3 changes ever made to Apex.
