Just finished Agent Kim Reactivated and wow what a drama.
One thing is certain, nobody does the “retired legend forced back into action” trope quite like So Ji-sub. This man is ridiculously good at what he does. He barely needed to say a word in some scenes and yet he completely owned them. One look from him was enough to remind you why he’s one of Korea’s finest actors.
The action was incredible, but what I really liked was the heart of the story. Beneath all the explosions, betrayals and political games was a father who would stop at absolutely nothing to protect his daughter. That emotional thread made every fight matter.
Now let me give Joo Sang-wook his flowers because sir I could not stand Chairman Joo Kang-chan. I hated his character Every time he appeared on my screen, I hated him. He didn’t play the typical loud, over the top villain. He was composed, manipulative and absolutely ruthless. The way he weaponized his money, power and influence made him even scarier because it felt believable. Some villains make you roll your eyes. Chairman Joo made you tense the moment he walked into a room because you never knew what he was going to do next, and that tension never left whenever he was on screen.
A villain is only as good as the actor playing him, and Joo Sang-wook absolutely understood the assignment. The fact that I hated Chairman Joo so much is the biggest compliment I can give him.
Lee Joon-hyuk, take your flowers too. Every scene with So Ji-sub felt like two heavyweights going head to head. The intensity, the emotions, the confrontations he delivered every single time.
Gong Myoung was such a breath of fresh air. He brought so much charm and warmth without taking away from the seriousness of the story. His chemistry with the rest of the cast was so natural.
Choo Young-woo continues to prove why everyone keeps talking about him. There’s something so effortless about his acting. He held his own beside such experienced actors and never once looked out of place.
And can we please appreciate Choi Dae-hoon and Yoon Kyung-ho? Those two were everything. The chemistry between the three of them was one of my favourite things about this drama. They gave us laughs when we needed them, but when it was time to fight, they reminded everyone exactly who they were.
Shout out to the entire supporting cast too because nobody came to play. Even the villains had me shouting at my screen. 😭
This drama reminded me that action alone is not enough. You need heart, and Agent Kim Reactivated had plenty of it. It was about love, loyalty, sacrifice and just how far a parent will go for their child.
If you have been waiting for all the episodes to drop before watching, this is your sign. Go and binge it.
One of the best action Kdramas of the year, and I enjoyed every episode.
10/10 no notes.

“Aku mulai syuting ini sejak kelas 3 SMA.
Tahu-tahu sekarang semuanya sudah selesai, dan aku sudah berusia 20 tahun.
Sebenarnya, bagi saya, sutradara sudah seperti guru akting.
Dan ketiga senior juga benar-benar banyak membantu saya.
Terima kasih.” 🥹
