The fast moving red dots are Chinese Fishing vessels clustering just outside Peru's Exclusive Economic Zone, before they enter Peruvian waters after switching-off their Automatic Identification System.

It’s an open secret that every year vessels from China come just at the edge of the 200-mile mark off Peru to hunt the Humboldt Squid, a protected species of giant squid which flourishes in these waters.

Besides Humboldt Squids, the Chinese fishing vessels also go after sharks, dolphins and even whales.
