Topic this morning #youthunemployment 30 years ago, I was on a yts scheme paid £35 per week, all of my friends left school and straight in to work. Fast forward 30 years, same job pays £320 minimum. Both parties haven't got a clue how to run a country, it's a simple tax exercise

And honestly? He may have accidentally exposed the entire scam.

Bezos pointed to a nurse in Queens making roughly $75,000 a year and paying around $12,000 in taxes:

“We shouldn’t be asking this nurse in Queens to send money to Washington.”

Think about how insane this system has become.

A nurse working 12-hour shifts is taxed before she even sees her paycheck while billionaires borrow against appreciating assets, exploit loopholes, and sometimes pay lower effective tax rates than school teachers.

The average American is funding an empire they can barely afford to live in.

Wars.
Interest payments.
Corporate subsidies.
Defense contracts.
Lobbyist wish lists.

Meanwhile the person changing bedpans in Queens gets her paycheck carved up like she’s financing Rome before collapse.

The most dangerous thing Bezos said wasn’t about taxes.

It was admitting out loud that the people carrying the country on their backs are getting crushed while the system tells them it’s “normal.”

🚨 Rupert Lowe Takes on HMRC’s Bureaucratic Bullying

MP Rupert Lowe delivered a blistering critique of HMRC, exposing how its monstrously complex tax rulebook is being weaponised against small business owners and compliant taxpayers.

In a sharp committee exchange, Lowe slammed the agency for hiding behind a sprawling, spaghetti-like mess of regulations “more loose ends than a plate of spaghetti” that creates endless grey areas, traps, and opportunities for aggressive interpretation.

Instead of going after serious issues like money laundering, HMRC appears focused on squeezing profitable, law-abiding businesses with audits, penalties, and pressure tactics.

Small businesses, the backbone of the economy are left navigating a labyrinth designed to catch them out, while real problems go unchecked.

Lowe is right to call this out. Britain needs a simpler, fairer tax system that collects what’s owed without treating entrepreneurs like criminals.

Over-complicated rules don’t raise revenue sustainably, they destroy confidence and drive talent away.

Time to cut the red tape and stop the bureaucratic bullying.
