Driving home yesterday, I almost had to swerve as this Great Spotted Cuckoo appeared in my peripheral vision! It landed where I was safe to stop, and showed rather well! A rare bird in the Balearic Islands, though NOCMIG studies are showing it’s a regular nocturnal migrant here.

Currently conducting a full census of the Pitiusas (Ibiza+Formentera) Mediterranean Shag population, with @SEO_BirdLife. Today we surveyed Formentera, where the population appears healthy. Big headline though was this Wallcreeper on sea cliffs of La Mola; first for the Pitiusas!

This Snow Bunting was found by Llàtzer Méndez in the local cemetery in Felanitx last Saturday, during the Tots Sants (All Saints) holiday weekend. It's still there now, taking a liking to the tombstones as perches. A Balearic Island rarity with only about 8 previous records.
