We’re back at it again today with our partner, @natureunited_ca and our workshop participants, discussing how investments in #NaturalClimateSolutions change in different national scenarios from business-as-usual and a low-carbon future to a high-emitting one.
@SP_Inst
This is what positive change looks like. Great to see such engaged workshop participants here today to help @SP_Inst and @natureunited_ca build a framework to increase investments in #NaturalClimateSolutions.
Climate change is a social issue with environmental consequences - Julius Lindsay @DavidSuzukiFDN talking about bringing nature to the leadership table and giving it a voice as we tackle climate change @Carleton_U@SP_Inst#ChallengeThePossible
Eighty percent of the world’s lands and biodiversity are a part of Indigenous territories. This is why #Indigenous-led nature conservation is a key aspect of nature-based climate solutions. - @valeriecourtois@uOttawa@SP_Inst
Thank you to Elder Verna McGregor for opening tonight’s reception w/ @natureunited_ca & @SP_Inst. You reminded us of the importance of everyone working together to heal the planet, regardless of race and borders.
“There is a lot of money to go around but we have to create the pathways to help the money get to the ground and be invested in nature.” - Courtney Kehoe, Managing Director of the newly launched #NatureInvestmentHub
“Of all the areas of #ClimateAction and #CleanGrowth, Canada can and should be a global leader in accelerating nature-based climate solutions.” - Stewart Elgie of @SP_Inst speaking tonight at a reception with @natureunited_ca.
So far, such a pleasure to watch. Respect, no interruptions, I can actually follow what they’re saying. Glad the debate organizers learned from their mistakes.

I can only imagine how excruciating it must be for Ms. Washington to mourn the death of her daughter’s father, grieve for her daughter’s loss, have the video of Mr. Floyd’s death posted all over, AND handle all of this so publicly. She does it with grace.
"I'm here for my baby, and I’m here for George, because I want justice for him." Roxie Washington, George Floyd's girlfriend, talks about their 6-year-old daughter, Gianna, growing up without her father. https://t.co/B9PZ98kzQU
I promise to continue to speak up against racism and injustice when I see it, hear it. I promise to seek out opportunities to listen and learn from my brothers and sisters of colour. And I promise to demand systemic change of our government officials to end racism & injustice.
Today @CondeNast launch the Sustainable Fashion Glossary, in partnership with @sustfash@LCFLondon@UAL which stands as the first global resource on sustainable fashion and the industry’s role in the climate emergency. #CondeNastGlossary https://t.co/hYqkQEhpn8
Do you remember when you joined Twitter? Apparently I did four years ago. Thanks for the reminder #Twitter. Here’s the tweet you suggested I send out. #MyTwitterAnniversary.
I like the shape-shifting idea, all-in-one clothing items, smart fabrics that change colour, go transparent, contract and expand. Lots of researchers working in this field, ie.: @Concordia’s Hexagram Lab.
This seems so obvious when one reads it but it has to be repeated again and again until it sinks in and encourages systemic change. In an ideal world, we could change our wardrobes as often as we like without having to consume more. Borrowing system or shape-shifting clothes...?
