On November 3, 1942, sixteen #Beaufighters from 272 Squadron departed to #Malta from Egypt. By the end of that month, the final tally for the squadron was twenty-one aircraft destroyed in the air, twenty on the ground. #maltaaviation #royalairforce #aviation #aviationhistory

On September 24, 1934, the aviation ace #Cobham attempted the first air-to-air refuel ever and was eventually forced to make a landing in #Malta. The same day the #W10 that had helped with the attempt had a structural failure which resulted in the loss of the entire crew of four.

A photo of #Spitfire EP-200, part of RAF 185 Squadron stationed at #HalFar, #Malta, before and after it crashed near Marina di Ragusa, Sicily on August 27, 1942, due to Flak damage. The #British pilot, Flg. Off. P.A #Woodger, survived the crash unhurt to become a prisoner of war.
