People deserve safe roads, proper drainage, effective flood-control measures, and communities where children can grow without their lives being threatened every time heavy rain falls. This is bigger than a viral post. It is about human lives.

We say, “This country…”
Then the rain stops. The water recedes. Life goes back to normal. Until the next rainy season. But flooding should not become something we simply accept as normal.

It was heartbreaking. 💔
And the painful truth is that this is not a new story. Every rainy season, we see the same pattern—schools submerged, churches flooded, homes destroyed, businesses disrupted, properties washed away, and sometimes, lives lost.
We sympathize. #RiversState
Last year, around the Eligbolo–Eliozu axis, where I live, I witnessed another heartbreaking story. Two children were reportedly swept away by floodwaters. A Hausa trader who attempted to rescue them was also carried away.
They were later found floating in another canal.
A few years ago, on my way to work, I encountered severe flooding around the Odili Road axis in Port Harcourt.
I remember asking myself: Why does this keep happening when the problem is already known and the solutions are not a secret?
