The movie thirteen made me have some serious flashbacks. I wasnt that girl, but i was in a classroom with a few of them. It’s interesting yet horrifying to see what their inside world looked like. I remember as a kid saying to myself “how are they so different?” #Chap13
Not sure if i agree with this textbook when it comes to teens getting a job. The deviance it describes I found to be empowering. I was no goody goody but getting a job early gave me a stronger sense of responsibility #Chap11#Work
School and stress…. Teens spend majority of their time in school. As a parents i know understand the critical importance of choosing a township or a school that fits your child’s needs
I definitely fit into the authoritative parent role. When I was a teen and conflict rose with my mother, i hated that she was so stern. As i grew older I appreciated her keeping me in check. I now see the importance of it #Chap7
@Chriswilddogs88 It’s so important to let go when you need to. In my faith my nana used to tell me “let go and let god”. Knowing we tried and giving ourselves a pat on the back can sometimes be a big praise of its own
@Chriswilddogs88 I worked in a high school for kids with autism and puberty is rough to say the least. Now as a behavioral therapist I’ve learned how to teach them the importance of “private” but man, you teachers have the boatload of it.
@Chriswilddogs88 I disagreed with the textbook in a sense about this. I found it to be empowering and help keep me out of trouble having a job at a young age. I also wanted to buy clothes that my mother wouldn’t buy for me haha
@Chriswilddogs88 I am literally petrified of when the time comes that my daughters get on social media. In my day we had AOL chat rooms which were creepy enough but now you can put your whole being out there. 😱
I’m curious to now know what sex education is currently like. When I was in school it was not taken seriously. More comical than anything probably due to being very uncomfortable with the course. #Chap9#SexEd
It was interesting to understand the phases of falling in love and then comparing them to an adult with more needs due to set boundaries. #Chap9#LoveandSexuality
Every teenagers dream. However with the possibility of risk behavior swimming around the teenage era, especially when it comes to automobiles, maybe don’t give them a fancy fast car? #TooFastTooFurious#RiskBehavior#Chap8
Externalization bs internalization. I feel like i noticed both in the movie Thirteen. More external though. Very hard to watch as a mother of 2 girls. Scared me to be very honest. But also eye opening on learning the importance of resilience #ProblemBehaviors#Thirteen
