পশ্চিমবঙ্গ নদীমাতৃক রাজ্য, বঙ্গোপসাগরের উপকূলে। প্রতিবছরই তাই আমাদের নানা প্রাকৃতিক দুর্যোগের সম্মুখীন হতে হয়। এবারো সাইক্লোন ‘রেমালে’র প্রভাবে আমাদের রাজ্যে প্রচুর ক্ষয়ক্ষতি হল ও হচ্ছে। কিন্তু সবার উপরে মানুষের জীবন। সৌভাগ্যক্রমে এবং অবশ্যই রাজ্য প্রশাসনের তৎপরতায় এবার জীবনহানি তুলনামূলকভাবে অনেক কম। নিহতদের পরিবারবর্গকে আমার আন্তরিক সমবেদনা জানাই, তাঁদের নিকটজনের হাতে অবিলম্বে আর্থিক সহায়তা পৌঁছাবে। ফসলের ও বাড়িঘরের যা ক্ষয়ক্ষতি হয়েছে, তার ক্ষতিপূরণের বন্টন আইন-মোতাবেক প্রশাসন এখনই দেখে নেবে এবং নির্বাচনের আচরণবিধি উঠে গেলে আমরা এই সব বিষয় আরো গুরুত্ব দিয়ে পুরোটা বিবেচনা করব।

নির্বাচনী বন্দোবস্তের ব্যস্ততা সত্ত্বেও সর্বস্তরে আমাদের প্রশাসন দুর্যোগ মোকাবিলায় এবার প্রস্তুত ছিল। মুখ্যসচিব থেকে শুরু করে আমার রাজ্যের সম্পূর্ণ সচিবালয়, জেলা প্রশাসন থেকে ব্লক প্রশাসন – দুর্যোগের মোকাবিলায় সকলে সংহতভাবে সবসময় মানুষের পাশে রয়েছে, ভবিষ্যতেও থাকবে। দুলক্ষ মানুষকে নিরাপদ জায়গায় ১৪০০ শিবিরে সরানোর কৃতিত্ব আমাদের পুরসভা – পঞ্চায়েতগুলিরও। এজন্য আমি রাজ্য ও স্থানীয় প্রশাসনের সকলকে আমার আন্তরিক ধন্যবাদ জানাই।

আমি বিশ্বাস রাখি, সকলের সহযোগিতায় এই ঝড়ও আমরা কাটিয়ে উঠব।

আমি জানি, এই দুর্যোগে আপনারা চিন্তিত। আমরাও চিন্তিত। কিন্তু ভয় পাবেন না, চিন্তা করবেন না। পরিস্থিতির মোকাবিলায় যা যা করণীয়, আমরা সবটাই করবো।
