BREAKING: The US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention has classified the hantavirus outbreak as a “level 3” emergency response, the lowest level of emergency activation, reports US media.

This is the most concerning part of the Hantavirus saga so far:
1) The sick woman was removed *before* the flight so that flight attendant had *MINIMAL* contact with her.
2) Andes Hantavirus normally only spreads human-to-human with significant long term contact.
3) This version of the virus often also has a longer incubation period, so having symptoms already is surprising.
The cases on the ship can happen due to the contained space.
This is the first case where the odds should have been *REALLY* low of the flight attendant getting sick.
These traits suggest a possible mutation.
What that specifically entails, we don't know yet.
The hope is that it was just a *very* unlucky situation without mutations.
BREAKING: A third British national is suspected to have hantavirus, the UK's Health Security Agency says.
The case was reported on the island of Tristan da Cunha, where cruise ship passengers disembarked last month.

The Corgi was the one leading them home
The German Shepherd was injured
The dogs kept a protective formation around the German Shepherd
The Corgi stopped often to make sure they were still okay
It took them 2 days to get home
They are neighbourhood friends
I’m going to cry😭😭😭
Seven dogs stolen from their owners have gone viral after escaping from an illegal transport truck and making their way home.
They traveled around 17 km together, led by a corgi across highways and fields, now safely back with their respective owners..🐶🐾🥺❤️
AIDS from COVID! How are people not freaking out about this yet?
We’ve been saying it for years.

Persistence of SARS-CoV-2 colonization and high expression of inflammatory factors in cardiac tissue 6 months after COVID-19 recovery: a prospective cohort study
❗Eye-opening study.
➡️It has been very difficult outside autopsies, for many reasons, to gather "live" myo/endocardial biopsy specimens,
➡️Therefor their findings are of significant importance:
“Our research suggests that certain COVID-19-recovered patients have persistent colonization of SARS-CoV-2 in their cardiac tissue, accompanied by a local increase in inflammatory factors.”
➡️This constitutes further major evidence in favor of SarsCoV2 persistence in some. The localized inflammatory response without systemic signs in some is also worrisome, as this could indicate that these “colonisations” are "islands", not easily accessible to your general bodily immune response.
I would love some microscopy here to identify morphological tissue changes( not the focus of this study)🤔
➡️The Q now, finding some kind of explanation( persistence/local inflammation/no or lowgrade systemic reponse)?
➡️One personal hypothesis(??):
As these patient were “recovered”, one could imagine localized hypoperfusion areas due to e.g. microclots during the acute SarsCoV2 infection(“scar areas”?), giving the opportunity to the virus to find and to slowly replicate in sub-optimal environments with a subsequent inadequate/ inefficient low-level and localized inflammatory response, without a full-blown systemic activation, but continuously "teasing" your immune response . A low cooking viral stew, causing slow “concealed” damage……. Sorry, just thinking out loud, no evidence to support this! #LongCovid
➡️Clearly we need more in-depth science with detailed microscopy here, but the fact that viral persistence was demonstrated in some recovered patients with “live” ad random samples, months after their acute infection, is a major breakthrough! This could have far-reaching consequences! #cardiologicalFollowUp

The Efficacy of Multivitamin, Vitamin A, Vitamin B, Vitamin C, and Vitamin D Supplements in the Prevention and Management of COVID-19 and Long-COVID: An Updated Systematic Review and Meta-Analysis of Randomized Clinical Trials
🔥Excellent review article, debunking some vitamin beliefs with solid critical remarks covering the science they’re supposedly based on.
Conclusion:
Overall no clear vitamin benefits demonstrated, larger RCTs with standardized recruitment and treatment protocols should be designed to further explore the clinical benefits of for instance vitamin D supplementation in COVID-19 patients and better clarify the mechanisms by which they acts.
Probably this review will stir things up, but before making any critical remarks, please read this study, with the “discussion” section.......and don’t shoot the messenger! 😉

How SARS-CoV-2 replicates once it enters the cells, has made surprising discoveries that could be the foundation for future antiviral therapies. It also has important implications as replication of the SARS-CoV-2 has, so far, received less attention from researchers. 1/
Increased Infection Risks After COVID-19 Infections
Dramatically higher risk of other infections after COVID infections, consistent with many studies showing immune system deterioration
Including over 4X higher viral infections

METABOLIC ALTERATIONS after COVID-19 INFECTION
Several studies have explored metabolic alterations that contribute to the severity of the disease. Some of the key findings include:
▶️ Dysregulated glucose metabolism: SARS-CoV-2 infection has been associated with altered glucose
🩻Research shows that many patients with #LongCOVID and #MECFS are also diagnosed with 1 or more connective tissue or structural disorders.

Pretty confident low iron is not 'THE CAUSE' of #LongCovid. Maybe part of the underlying processes in some.
I get irritated by such sensational headlines hinting at one magical solution for all.
Although in this case, strictly speaking, the one cause is (drum roll)...covid!
