@regularaugust (No, I haven't seen the Supereyepatch Wolf video. I'm more going off of rereading it using a pacifist lens after watching Gantz Abridged back in the late 2000's)
@regularaugust I mean... I wouldn't say Gantz is "good", but I can at least appreciate the social commentary it has.
For as violent as the manga gets, there's a lot of commentary on cycles of violence and the need to break out of them to find both inner and outer peace.
@spectralSpices@GroovyMothLegs Sure, but the subtheme is still present and has overlap with Ghost (same way magnet moves are Electric or Steel)
The point is more that if something is named after how it's related to generating light? Instantly goes against one of Dark's themes.
@spectralSpices@GroovyMothLegs The Dark type does still have "literal darkness" as a subtheme - a few of their moves still center around the lack of light. Even in Japanese.
Black Hole Eclipse, Dark Void, and Night Daze are themed around a lack of light instead of being evil/underhanded.
@RafaelC62266766@pokemon_daily Yeah, it's the closest, but it is still a stretch.
Pokemon seems to have decided that ninjas are some combination of Bug/Dark/Poison - Shiftry, Ninjask, Toxicroak, Accelgor, Greninja, Sneasler.
But that also means that the bug typing already covers the ninja theme.
@ChaosHarlequin7@pokemon_daily Then you seemed to have missed the second level of the design: that thing sprouting from the back of its head isn't actually a mouth, it just looks like one.
Like Sudowoodo, it is pretending to be a different type than it actually is.
Hence: the "Deceiver" pokemon type.
@pokemon_daily Ferreal: "oh, it has a dark color scheme!" Has the same energy as "it's green, so it must be grass type".
None of these show any signs of being dark type - Accelgor is the closest, but even that's a bit of a stretch using ninja=deceptive tactics.
@nerissa_en
I know EnReco has your full attention, but figured I'd point out that the Utena movie is apparently getting a wide theatrical release next month (21st and 22nd)

@princemeloetta Would voice acting in the game be cool? Sure. I can get on board with it.
But wanting to leave it open to interpretation isn't a cop out, considering they *already* don't use a single voice cast for the characters in the first place.
@princemeloetta Nemona has had 3 different VAs since 2024 across different mediums (including pokemas). And that's true for both JP and EN language voice work.
So according to the mainline games, which of the 3 is the "real" one?
@QuokkaSmiless For reference: to progress the story without glitches, you have to travel to Jubilife City three seperate times, and the only plot-required thing that actually happens there is that you get introduced to Team Galactic.
Otherwise it's "I have to go here to travel somewhere else."
@QuokkaSmiless "Improvement" does not equal "is suddenly good"
While the pokedex got fixed, a lot of the other fundamental flaws to DP are still there - most prominently the 17 or so instances of forced backtracking you have to do to progress a linear story.
@nellychillin 36. Been playing since the beginning.
Gen 1 is a janky mess where there's practically zero things to do outside of beating the elite four and filling the pokedex.
Gen 7, for all its flaws in pacing, has way more things to do outside of the story and completing the 'dex.
@dangomushi_fue@bignothingman Yeah, no.
Pause and think about which indie vtubers have had prominent roles in multi-million dollar media projects?
Best I can think of is Dokibird, Kson, Amalee, and Cyuu.
Three of those are as non-vtubers, and Dokibird is specifically because of how bad Kurosanji screwed up.
