@BBCBreakfast Playing music out loud is specifically a railway byelaw offence, so it would be very simple to update that to speaker calls. Just needs the staff to be able to enforce it...
It's happened again! Walking through St Pancras, in ordinary shirt and trousers, with no ID or anything to identify me as staff.
A Spanish gentleman asks me how to get to Canterbury.
I must have some sort of railway aura, it's very weird.
I get that David Cameron may need to charter a plane when travelling to multiple countries in one week, but that does not justify spending hundreds of thousands of pounds at taxpayers' expense to hire one of the most luxurious private jets on the market. https://t.co/2Snbwhed8w
So the DfT finally do something right, by appointing Alex Hynes who actually understands how to run a railway.
How long before they hamstring him so much that he quits?
Are you travelling by @SouthernRailUK this weekend? My friend Lucie desperately needs your help. She has spent nine months hand making this beautiful quilt out of disused kimono silk for her oldest friend's brand new baby:
Friday morning chat in the office:
Train planners do it on the Down Fast
Train planners do it with a three minute reoccupation
Train planners do it with an eight minute turnround
With the Elizabeth Line now open, what's the best way from Euston to Slough?
Northern to TCR, then Elizabeth Line?
Or old-skool Euston Square to Padd, and pick up a train there?
@anon_opin Cool. I'll delete everything that my department does when I get in tomorrow then.
There won't be any trains running once I have, but hey, our job isn't that important, so...
Did my first job fair today. A long time since I needed to stand for that long!
But a lot of people interested, so here's hoping they join and go on to successful careers.
I got to the station to find one train left on the departure board. Luckily for me, it was terminating somewhere close to where I needed to be.
So now I'm waiting for a bus, that'll take 30 minutes to get me where I need to be.
Always check your trains, kids!
I have done something very stupid indeed.
I knew there was engineering work today, but also knew that it wouldn't affect my journey.
I also knew that there was a driver's strike yesterday.
What I didn't know, didn't check for, and didn't think to check for, was a strike today.
