Will never forget attracting the attention of the Superman of Hernia Repairs on Twitter (as it was called back in the day) laying in a hospital bed at the MRI in a lot of pain! As if by magic, he turned up at my bed within hrs of putting out the tweet! 👊🏼
Interesting case, thanks for sharing. A Spigelian hernia is usually found lower down in the abdomen, typically infra-umbilical (often below the arcuate line). So a lump this high up near the ribs would be quite unusual. A lump/hernia in this location may be more consistent with an intercostal hernia. A CT scan should help clarify the anatomy and confirm the diagnosis. Happy to help if you’re based in the UK 👍🏼🙏

Thank you to everyone helping us build a national picture of #HerniaSurgery — transforming hernia surgery, together.
In my 20 years as a consultant, I only ever had one female colleague I’m sorry to say. And I was never trained by a female consultant surgeon. Very sad and so your forum needs more attention resources and funding 💪
