📊 New Drought Monitor released today (data through Tuesday April 28)
⚠️ Baltimore Metro has officially dropped from Moderate Drought into SEVERE DROUGHT — joining DC, Southern Maryland, and Northern Virginia in the D2 category.

🟧 Severe Drought now covers a continuous block from Charlottesville through DC, Frederick County, Westminster, and into northern Baltimore County.

🟨 The Eastern Shore worsened from Abnormally Dry into Moderate Drought across most of Delmarva.

🆕 A new pocket of Extreme Drought (D3) appeared in southwest Virginia — the first red on the regional map.

💧 IMPORTANT: Yesterday's 0.40" of rain at BWI is NOT included in this report. The data cutoff was Tuesday, April 28 — before the front swept through. Next week's update should begin to reflect this week's rainfall.

📉 Cumulative rainfall deficit at BWI since 2024: -21.73"
