Rhythm shooting was in 2K25, 26, and 27 and somehow 2K managed to make it different every single year. Everytime I lose focus and shoot like im on 26 it’s a miss EVERYTIME… 25 had the best rhythm shooting, even with the hitch they fixed

As a point guard on my 2k27 squad, I want to give my perspective on something that regularly comes up during the game. I want to preface this by saying that I am a pass-first guard that averages over 10 assists per game. So I am not a dribble spamming ball hog. So here it goes:

We do not need to hear “I’m open” literally every time we come down the court. That provides nothing other than a distraction. By the time the point guard looks over to you when you announce how open you are, the defense has already recovered, and you are no longer “open”. So that just burns a good 5 seconds off the shot clock by having to recover after realizing you’re not open and having to get back to doing my job.

Let the game come to you. The job of the point guard is to break down the defense and then make a pass that the defense has to recover/rotate to. Your job is to make quick and decisive moves. Shoot, drive, or swing the ball. Immediately. We’re trying to create a crack in the defense and then exploit it. It’s not your time to stand there and dribble around while the defense recovers. That defeats the whole purpose of breaking down the defense in the first place.

If you play the game the right way, you’ll get your shots. You don’t need to panic if you don’t receive the ball for three possessions in a row.

2K been nerfing dribbling in the ground since that speedboost patch on 2K16. Tripping over my shoe strings while trying to dodge multiple defenders spamming steals make playing guard this year overly toxic. And some how this patch made it even worse….

2K could make the perfect game and majority of the community would still be horrible. It’s a certain way to play 2K to win consistently. You can call it meta or any name you want. The issue is boys wanna hop on and play how they wanna play instead of doing what the game allows.
