I need help from writers and linguists. What are some adjectives that describe covert abusers? Other than narcissistic. Someone who appears nice and caring, and makes you feel lucky that you’re with them, but everything they do and say is laced with poison.
They claim they’ll stick by you always because they want to help you through your mental health crisis because they just care about you so much. They make you wonder if they actually believe the bullshit they’re peddling, or if manipulating you was always a conscious decision.
treat her goal like it is: a macguffin. Outside forces will never hurt as bad as the pain someone close to you can cause. That’s real drama. Now I can’t stop thinking about writing. Someone make me stop using TV and video games to cope with my trauma, and make me write instead
The two reasons why I stopped working on my novel is
1. I couldn’t (and still can’t) get myself to sit down and just write
2. I felt very unsatisfied with the story of one of my characters. I just couldn’t figure out how to make her side of the story engaging
But I just had a really rough couple of months which left me angry, confused, and hurt. Generally just feeling way too much. Then it struck me that’s exactly the story my character needs lol. Go smaller, not bigger. Have a plot for her to try to overcome, but
Luke hoped there was still good in him, but ultimately it wasn’t actually about the kind of man his father was, it was about the kind of man Luke was choosing to be
The thing I love about Luke throwing down his lightsaber on the Death Star, rather than kill his own father is that it doesn’t matter whether or not Vader deserves forgiveness (he doesn’t).
I don’t think gaslighting is always intentionally malicious. I think a person can absolutely believe their own bullshit. But if you’re ever in a situation where you’re telling someone not to believe anyone but you, that’s like chapter one of the gaslighter’s handbook
If someone tells you their friends and family are saying you’re manipulating them, and your response is “Believe me, not them,” you should probably reevaluate some things
Nobody ever said Sabine didn’t have the midichlorian levels to use the force. What they said is that she’s a bull-headed Mandalorian who struggles to connect with her spiritual self
Hey creatives, people working in the industry, people trying to work in the industry - I know times are rough right now, but I've seen an uptick in one off quick gigs to train AI and unless you want there to not be an industry in a few years, I'd advise against taking these.
