@niopub@anliakho@ZacksJerryRig And even those presidents more qualified, none would act alone without input and expertise from those around them. To do so would be literally the dumbest thing they could possibly do.
@niopub@anliakho@ZacksJerryRig I would put those with actual experience in international affairs as more capable than those without said experience. Like who's more capable of leading a nation through war, Obama or Eisenhower? I'm gonna go with Eisenhower. But shit, why would his previous experience matter?
@niopub@anliakho@ZacksJerryRig Most presidents, regardless of party, are incapable of crafting international policy on the scale of what the United States needs. The idea that a federal department should blindly follow the whims of anyone is insane. And being CiC doesn't mean what you apparently think it does.
@niopub@bigchocolate59@anliakho@ZacksJerryRig No, it's not. Our spending is so much more than any other nation that cuts wouldn't change our military capabilities. We routinely spend 2.5-3x that of our closest competitor (China) and that has been the case for many years. It's unnecessary.
@eligaultney@anliakho@ZacksJerryRig No, it's doesn't exist. There will be no noticeable cuts to defense spending because many of Trump's (and the GOP's) benefactors own the companies that benefit from that defense spending.
@XS29L8B000001@Noahpinion No, many Republicans often think they are voting in their own best interests even when it's very clear they are not. When they say "Make America Great Again" many really mean "I want mine and screw anyone who gets in the way!"
@niopub@anliakho@ZacksJerryRig Also, our military is so far and away superior to any other than cutting spending by 10% wouldn't change that at all. But it would be able to cover a number of social programs needed by Americans. It's nonsense to ignore one of our greatest sources of spending.
@anliakho@ZacksJerryRig "nobody knows who pays for what" Where is this energy when it comes to defense and military spending? The quickest, easiest way to lower spending would be to cut military spending but that'll never happen because it's not really about cutting spending at all.
@kvogt Will you be receiving a substantial golden parachute as opposed to all those employees recently laid off for a mistake that wasn't their fault? Or is it just the little guy that gets screwed over as always?
@sweetanita Love you @sweetanita but this is a bad take. Like there's definitely something to the idea that not everyone should follow the same path but even remotely encouraging stopping school so young? Nah. That's not going to work for that vast majority of people.
@chiknnuggey@Eagles They already kinda do (or at least do interviews that way). "We threw away too many opportunities and it cost us the game. Gonna have to watch the tape and see where we can get better. Sorry fans. Its on to next week."
@danielleweisber Didn't you hear? Everyone in California is an actor or an influencer and literally nothing else. That's obviously why the state's economy is one of the largest in the world...from all the movies and influencing!
@BartHanson@donniccolo@PhilGalfond@HCLPokerShow Changing conclusions with new info is admirable but doesn't change that your initial conclusion was wrong. That's the whole point of changing your beliefs b/c of new info. Seems like you want credit for changing w/o acknowledging the possibility that you were originally wrong.
