🚨Roy Keane on Manchester City’s transfer window compared to Manchester United:
🗣️ Roy Keane: “For me, the difference is ambition. Manchester City have let Rodri and Kevin De Bruyne go and they immediately looked at the situation and said, ‘We need replacements.’
“Then they looked at De Bruyne and thought, ‘If Kevin could assist Haaland without even looking at where he was, how about we replace that quality with a player who can score, dribble with his left, turn onto his right and still dribble?’ They looked around and said, ‘Who in world football can give us that?’ They went for Rayan Cherki.
“Then they said, ‘Cherki won’t be available all day. We need a Premier League winger who can give us what Cherki gives us, but with more aggression, someone who is good with the ball at his feet, can dribble and run through defences.’ They looked at Everton and took their best player Iliman Ndiaye.
“Ndiaye was wanted by Liverpool, Manchester United and Arsenal, but City didn’t sit there waiting for Everton to name a price. They knew what the player was worth, they believed he could become a £150m player in the future, and they paid the money immediately.
“Now compare that to United. They still have the same left-back problem. Balde isn’t interested, Lewis Hall isn’t for sale, and United have found themselves making the same old mistake again identifying a problem but struggling to get the player they actually want.
“Liverpool have gone and spent £150m on Barcola, a fantastic player but someone who still has to prove himself in English football. Manchester City are going into Premier League clubs, looking at their best players and saying, ‘We want him.’
“And that tells you everything. They’re not waiting for the perfect opportunity. They’re creating the opportunity. They’ve lost two massive players in Rodri and De Bruyne and instead of making excuses, they’ve gone into the market and tried to replace that quality with different types of players.
“For me, that is clear ambition. It’s not simply about how much money you spend. It’s about identifying what you need, finding the players who can give it to you and having the courage to get the deals done. Manchester City have shown that this summer.”
