@tonx Or Twitterrific. Twitter itself is nearly unusable. I hadn’t realized how awful an interface it was. Kept hearing people say things they didn’t like about Twitter but couldn’t relate because the third party apps were so much better. Dumb. Dumb. Dumb. Twitter.
Cleaning out the coffee cabinet, I came across these two instants from past travels (Japan & Sweden). Glutton for punishment, I made both. Key coffee: bad (stale/ashy/leathery). Löfbergs: a contender with better instants. Cloying but some acidity. I’d drink it on an airplane.
It’s not what people think of when you say trip to origin, but still very exciting to visit Café Nunes on São Jorge Island in the Azores. They grow and process the coffee right behind the cafe. It’s espresso based drinks only and far from third wave but a great experience!
@thepouroverblog @FT I guess the “readers’ picks” absolves them for including Philz! Still some good entries though. Better, I think, is the writer’s picks version. https://t.co/sQdCBl612G
Excellent El Salvador espresso from Nomad at Black Fox Coffee - like a peach-blueberry pie ala mode. Quite the line up of beans as well - house roasted, Square Mile, Coffee Collective and Drop. That’s some Square Mile Colombia to go.
People frequently ask me what my favorite coffee is. I hate that question since it’s both imprecise and because I like to try new things. But it hit me this morning, after all these years, that the perfect answer is “coffee from Kenya.” Equally imprecise, yet totally true.
@tonx Agree. Can’t put my finger on it: roasting profiles, coffees themselves, or my aging taste buds. I love a really juicy currant profile and those are rare. A couple past year stand outs: Negugu-ini from Panther and the Nyeri Mahiga from Greater Goods.

Quandary: Your new coffee was supposed to be delivered yesterday. Your old coffee will run out tomorrow. Your new coffee, despite being ordered from a place an hour away is being held at a nearby post office and won’t be delivered until Monday.
Coffee roasters: do you actually like this kind of bag or are there too few other choices? I’d say about 1/4 of the ones I get end up opening improperly, rendering the zip seal useless. Can some manufacturer build a better bag (maybe not plastic as well)?
