I feel like the argument of "Just learn Japanese if you want to get into media" is quite inutile because I've basically done just that and yet I still cannot purchase a number of Japanese media I want from official source because *reads notes* "region locked".

This isn't a new issue but indicative of a bigger problem. Many Companies are cutting friction from games so players can get through the "content" it faster. Many people don't want to filter their own tastes, they want to get in on the fandom/hype culture surrounding new games.
