Hi @albinder , this is a much needed and important service. Cheering for you and team to bring impact. We met a bunch of companies in emergency care category for supporting them via Rainmatter.

Sharing notes from what we observed. Hoping it’s useful to your team working on this project.

First, ambulance services in India aren’t a technology problem or even a logistics problem. They’re a coordination and trust problem. The best service won’t be the one that arrives the fastest but the one that creates a system people trust to save them when it matters.

1) Most companies we met obsess over response times, aiming for unrealistic goals like “X” minute arrivals. speed is critical but treatment initiation time and survival rates are more important metric. Faster doesn’t always mean better outcomes; preparedness matters more.

2) There’s a race to equip ambulances with cutting-edge tech, assuming it’s a game-changer. But a well-trained paramedic with basic tools can often save more lives than an undertrained individual with a ventilator they barely know how to use. Unfortunately, in India skill training is still an underrated aspect of operating.

3) The belief that more ambulances solve the problem is misguided. In more metro cities, poor traffic management and a lack of awareness about yielding to ambulances neutralize fleet size advantages. But you guys have the brand authority to create awareness and educate people on basic road etiquette’s . Smaller companies can’t do what you can’t

4) Pre arrival communication. Many lives can be saved by guiding the bystanders or family members on basic first aid before the ambulance arrives. Simple steps like positioning a patient correctly can buy precious time.

Operating an ambulance service in India is about optimizing for chaos—a system where traffic, infrastructure, and trust deficits compete with time-sensitive medical needs. Success lies not in being faster, shinier, or cheaper but in being smarter, simpler, and more human.

With Aravindh's (@pawnof64squares) win over world no.2 Arjun Erigaisi and recently crossing 2700 (now 2713 on live ratings), it might be a good time to remind everyone of something that happened nearly a decade ago!

The year was 2013 and Aravindh was playing in the Chennai GM tournament that was held along with the world championship match of Vishy Anand and Magnus Carlsen. The field had 21 GMs and 30 IMs. 13-year-old Aravindh (FM with an Elo of 2335) managed to crush the field with a score of 9.0/11 and win the tournament. It was the moment everyone realized that the boy was special. It took some time for Aravindh to rise to the absolute best, but slowly but surely he is reaching there!

What makes Aravindh's journey truly special, is the difficulties that he has gone through in order to reach where he is right now. He comes from a very humble background financially. He lost his father when he was just 3 years old and it was his mother who kept on supporting his career. In 2014, there was a fundraiser (https://t.co/F08eLWWTla) where close to Rs.9 lakhs were raised through crowdfunding so that the boy could play tournaments to achieve his GM title.

In his entire journey of becoming a strong player, a pillar of support has been India's super coach @Rameshchess. He was there with Aravindh right from the very beginning.

With Aravindh recently playing the Gashimov Memorial and now the Chennai Grand masters, we hope that he keeps getting more and more opportunities! We are pretty sure that this 24-year-old will very soon cross 2750 and move towards the absolute elite in the world.
