The weeks following childbirth are critical for a mother's recovery. Adequate rest, proper nutrition, family support, and postnatal care can help mothers regain their strength and reduce the risk of compilications.
Supporting mothers after delivery is just as important as caring for them during pregnancy.
Healthy mother. Healthy families. Stronger communities.

“The National Guidelines on Health Education and Life Skills for Out-of-School Adolescents and Youth are an important resource that helps young people understand themselves, navigate adolescence, and make informed decisions about their health and well-being.
At RHU, we believe that access to accurate information is key to addressing misconceptions and empowering adolescents and youth. We are pleased to make these guidelines available and remain committed to supporting stakeholders to strengthen sexuality education and life skills programming both in and out of school.
We also encourage our partners in the education and gender sectors to utilize and share these materials widely to ensure that no young person is left behind.”

STIs like chlamydia, gonorrhea, syphilis & HIV spread through sex. Many have no early symptoms, so regular testing is key for both men and women

As you go out and enjoy your weekend, let’s remember: dignity isn’t just a word; it’s how we treat every girl, every day. Dignity is care. Respect is change.
Protect her dignity. Support her well-being. Build a better tomorrow.

Good menstrual hygiene helps girls stay healthier and stay in control of their lives. When they can manage their periods safely, privately, and without shame, they don’t have to choose between their bodies, their education, or their place in the community.
They stay in school, show up fully, and move closer to the future they’re working towards.
This #MHM2026, let’s commit to breaking the silence and making dignity in menstruation the norm. A #PeriodFriendlyWorld starts when we actually listen to adolescent voices and act on their needs.

Periods aren’t shameful. They’re about dignity, health, and basic human rights. Yet in many communities, menstruation is still hidden behind silence and stigma. That silence stops girls from asking questions, keeps them out of school, and limits their participation in society.
This #MHM2026, under the theme Together for a #PeriodFriendlyWorld, we’re changing that. We are going to use our platforms to amplify the voices of adolescents and young people to share MHM accurate information, and the need for them to access menstrual products without shame.
So, let’s dismantle the taboos and demystify the myths surrounding menstruation. When young people lead the conversation, policies change, communities become more supportive, and a period-friendly world becomes possible.

Let’s start the week by busting one maternal health myth.
🚫 Myth: In Budaka, many adolescent girls and young women believe “You must give birth at home to bury the placenta safely.”
✅ Fact: Where you bury the placenta is cultural. How you deliver affects your life. Facility births with skilled staff reduce the risk of haemorrhage, infection, and maternal death.
👩🏾 How: You can still respect cultural practices after a safe delivery in a health facility. Choosing safe care protects both Mother and Child. Start this week knowing: No mother should choose between culture and her life. Have a safe, impactful week ahead!

Defilement and rape destroy lives, affect mental health, interrupt education, and leave lasting trauma. Teaching young people about consent, respect, and personal safety helps prevent abuse @RHUganda@tikoafrica@MinofHealthUG@AnsaSRHR@SRHRAllianceUg#Tosirika #EveryHourMatters
#MondayMotivation: Did you know that Periods shouldn't pause dreams?
Every month, thousands of girls across Uganda miss school because of stigma and lack of access to menstrual health products.
When young people have accurate information, safe spaces, that enable them to menstruate with dignity, they stay in school, speak up, and lead.

We are hiking for the girl who misses class because of her period.
We are hiking for the girl who feels ashamed to speak up or ask for help.
We are hiking for the girl who deserves dignity, confidence and equal opportunities.
This year, #Hike4GirlsUg takes us to Mt. Mgahinga in Kisoro as we raise our voices against menstrual stigma and stand for girls everywhere.
Join us on this meaningful journey and be part of creating change that keeps girls in school, supported and empowered.
Every step we take together sends a message that periods should never stand in the way of a girl’s future.
