@silentrocco@JohnnySalad3t@Variety Just gonna have to agree to disagree, there is way more to generative AI than prompting (which is an outdated mode). Regardless of what we believe about AI, it’s here to stay at this point and I honestly do think it will empower people the same way previous technologies have.
@silentrocco@JohnnySalad3t@Variety What’s different about VFX artists using a tool like Blender vs. generative AI? By your logic there is an argument to be made that using Blender is “less artistic” than building physical sets. If everyone thought like you, people like Kane Parsons wouldn’t have found their start.
@silentrocco@JohnnySalad3t@Variety At the end of the day AI is a tool that increases productivity by n%. And if I am a company, my goal is to beat my competition, and if I can get 10n% productivity by hiring 10x the number of employees that all use AI, I will. AI will more than likely create jobs at this point.
@silentrocco@JohnnySalad3t@Variety It will definitely be used to help them. VFX is already a bottleneck in post-prod, and VFX workers with AI will work faster and create better results than anyone else w/ AI. If you’re worried about AI being used in writing, that’s not happening bc it sucks and everyone knows it.
@silentrocco@JohnnySalad3t@Variety Who’s to say generative AI can’t help overworked / underpaid VFX workers speed up their processes? Why write off such a powerful technology just because its current state is subpar? Compare the results of video AI from a year ago to the results today, and imagine 2 years from now
